Today I am delighted to shine the spotlight on The Butterfly and the Belljar who create illustrative and intricate laser cut wedding stationery designs.
I hand over to owner Julie Wilson to find out more about the Brand…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“I am Julie and I am the owner of The Butterfly & Belljar.”
“We offer unique and beautifully designed stationery to make your wedding special.”
“We offer a personal service to suit your individual taste.”
“Specialising in intricate laser cut and illustrative designs, we can get the exact look and feel you want for your big day.”
“We are always happy to meet with new clients. This lets us get a sense of what you are looking for, discuss the colour palettes as well as your general likes and dislikes.”
“From there we can come up with a design that is perfect for your wedding! We can even illustrate your venue for truly personalised stationery.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“The first invitation I designed was for my own wedding.”
“I had a vision of what I wanted even though it may not be a typical wedding invitation.”
“But from what I found during my research, ‘typical’ wedding invitations sometimes were not very interesting. I wanted my own to be beautiful, interesting and unique.”
“Since designing that invitation, I have been asked to design a wide range for people in Scotland and beyond.”
“This started with my own guests commenting on how different my invites were and asking if I would do commissions.”
“Coming from a graphic design background I was in the perfect position to set up my own company when requests were coming in.”
What inspires you?
“Things that are pretty and make me smile! I have always loved nature, trees and autumn so these usually find a way to come into my work.”
Do trends influence your work?
“Trends definitely can spark ideas and inspire new work but I feel it’s important to create designs that are timeless.”
“A good piece of work doesn’t go out of fashion and can stand the test of time.”
“The most important thing for me when designing wedding stationery is to create something the client will love and that it is special to them.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“First starting up the company and going to the first wedding show. It was a lot of work but I couldn’t believe the amazing feedback and I haven’t looked back since.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“I see us expanding into other types of greetings cards and events, personalised gifts and hopefully a lot more weddings!”
Thank you to Julie for sharing her beautiful illustrative and laser cut wedding stationery with us.
I love that as well as having stunning ranges and designs she has a bespoke design service which means can work with you to design the invites you are looking for, whether it’s having your venue illustrated or bringing in elements which are special to you thus creating a completely unique invitation.
