With the insight of experience and heritage from both Russia and the UK, the owner of Beterk!Ah… Tatiana Ashakova is delighted to present to you her exclusive range of hand made head wear.
With no formal training in design, Tatiana launched her label in 2010 after finishing her MSc in International Fashion Marketing in Glasgow Caledonian University.
Inspired by the British hat-wearing tradition and prompted by a fascination of this culture, Tatiana invested creativity and skills into fashioning a diverse range of unique items.
Flowers and corsages hand-crafted from the finest textiles; intricate beading for creating bridal hair accessories, alongside vintage crochet and lace sourced internationally, are amongst the source materials that bring great diversity into ranges Tatiana creates twice a year.
Environmental aspects play a very important role in manufacturing process.
Nearly every single piece enjoys ethical approach of its creator: they are hand embellished and made from recycled sustainable, and locally and internationally found vintage textiles.
Zero waste pattern cutting techniques are used for every garment.
Through significant experience in fashion the brand owner gained working as a stylist and make-up artist, she has a sharp eye on trends and it enables her to create bespoke exclusive head pieces that are up-to-date as well as instant classics.
Beretk!Ah… is sold exclusively to some of the finest independent stores worldwide but also online through its own website.
Tatiana says of her new Russian Inspired Collection,”I always wanted to transfer this British hat wearing tradition to Russia, and it was an interesting combination to do so by using the most authentic Russian material called “Pavloposadkiy platok” – natural wool and beautifully dyed patterned shawls.”
“I am always happy when a stockist of Beretk!Ah… asks to create some special headwear for them.”
“It is great that Russia is appreciating millinery more, and I am really pleased that Beretk!Ah keeps on getting more stockists in my country of origin.”
“When the owner of Lily Symphony Ksenia asked me if I would be interested to create some head pieces from the most known Russian style shawls “Pavlo-Posadskiy Platok” to be stocked in her shop I got very excited!”
” With quite a busy period making head pieces for my stockists from the next collection 2013 I thought I would not manage to make a new line of head pieces.”
“However every time I looked at these beautiful patterned woollen fabric I could not resist thinking of designs for this Russian inspired line.”
” And as it usually happens to me: I gather ideas in my head, wait… and suddenly have a massive push of inspiration to start working!”
“As a result these lovely head pieces were born:
