Caroline graduated from university in 1996 after completing a fashion and textile degree in which she specialised in contemporary bridal wear.
On graduating, she moved onto costume design for theatre, in which she worked for 5 years.
By 2001 her love of bridal design prompted her to move back into this sector of the industry, designing for an exclusive local boutique, before embarking on her own bespoke business in 2003.
During this time, she gained extensive experience in the design and fit of garments and the use of fabric on the body, enabling her to assist the bride to be in choosing the gown of her dreams.
At the end of 2013, Caroline was voted Regional Winner in The Wedding Industry Awards in the Designer/Dressmaker category.
All Bespoke gowns are handmade by Caroline.
The Bridal Boutique also offers a small selection of off the peg gowns for Bridal and Bridesmaids.
I hand over to Caroline to share her inspiration for this new pretty bridal gown collection…
“The collection evolved as I was making it.”
“Originally I was quite drawn to a British seaside theme for the collection, as I was particularly drawn to that Victorian image of Britain by the sea.”
“As I moved on to different gowns it became apparent that different Decades were having an influence on me.”
“I love history of fashion, classic films and Hollywood style icons from years gone by, so this is no surprise really.”
“The idea for the location of the photo shoot also had an influence.”
“As my initial thoughts had been a seaside theme, Claire and Adrian (from Harvey and Harvey photography) came up with the idea of a theatre shoot using seaside props! (Pretty much because going on location to the beach would be so weather dependent!)”
“The more I thought about it, the more I loved the idea, but I no longer felt the seaside theme worked with my collection.”
“I had definitely moved in a more glamorous ‘Hollywood style’ direction.”
“I loved the idea of a photo shoot in a theatre as my background is theatre costume as well as bridal wear and the glamour of creating ‘theatre stills’ I felt really worked my gowns.”
“Being from Lincoln and knowing the Theatre Royal here quite well, I knew that would be the ideal location for the shoot.”
“The place is so iconic locally and has the perfect atmosphere to create the shots I was looking for.”
“Myself, Adrian and Heidi from Giddy Kipper initially did a reccy of the theatre to decide which locations would work best so we knew where we wanted to be on the day.”
“We already had an idea that we would like some dressing room shots, unfortunately the dressing rooms at the theatre are quite basic, this is where Heidi came in!”
“She did an amazing job of turning a very boring room into an amazing Hollywood style dressing room! It looked amazing!”
“On the day of the shoot we had quite a tight schedule to stick to.”
“Heidi began with styling the dressing room whilst Claire and Adrian prepped the other locations.”
“The final look I wanted to achieve was like stills from a production with backstage shots looking like the girls getting ready for a performance, and I have to say I am very happy with the results.”
