Unique & imaginative wedding flowers from LouLou Flowers

There are not many ladies that don’t love beautiful blooms and your wedding flowers are some of the most special flowers you will ever receive so I am thrilled to welcome Louise from Lou Lou Flowers, a wedding florist based in Fife.

With a love of all things flowery and ‘weddingy’ she creates unique and imaginative wedding flowers for simply stunning weddings.

She adores gorgeous textures, amazing colour and the natural flow of flowers and foliage to make designs that are just that little bit different.

I hand you over to Louise to tell you all about her Business…

Who are you, and what do you do?

“Hello, my name is Louise (stage name Loulou) and I’m the owner of Loulou Flowers.”

“I’m a dedicated Wedding and Events Florist based in Dunfermline, but work throughout Scotland.”

“I’m lucky to work from home in my workshop, which is ideal when I’m creating wedding flowers into the wee small hours.”

“It also means I’m essentially working in my garden where I’m always to be seen, scissors in hand, cutting away at flowers and plants to use in designs.”

“Another bonus is that my house is surrounded in huge Copper Beech, Silver Birch and Pine trees, which just keep me grounded.”

When and why did you start your Company?

“I love weddings, flowers and design, so after a long career in banking decided enough was enough and retrained to become a florist.”

“I launched Loulou Flowers 5 years ago, which has been so liberating creatively that I often have to remind myself that it’s really happening.”

“I’m hugely lucky to have the opportunity to make gorgeous flowers for beautiful brides and am excited by the stunning venues, colour and styles that are emerging in the wedding world. It’s an amazing time to be in this industry.”

What inspires you?

“In my teens I always craved to go to art college, but being the 80’s, I had to get a ‘proper job’, .so I fought against the institution of banking by putting all my energy into loving fashion and design.”

“From this I developed a real passion for texture and colour, which I continue to use to this day to create wedding flowers.”

“My favourite designs are brimming with the most amazing colours, shapes and smells and it’s just like art really, but instead of using paints I’m using flowers.”

 Do trends influence your work?

“Trends are hugely important in weddings, as styles can come and go pretty quickly.”

“I often meet brides two years before their wedding, so it’s essential that I have an instinctive feel for what will be current in the months and years ahead.”

“My brides are often brilliant at sensing this themselves too and knowing how they want their venue, etc. to look on their special day.”

“What’s really special though is when you take the trends a step further and suggest something a little bit different that the couple has never even considered and loves!”

What is your greatest achievement?

“My biggest achievement has only come about very recently and is very personal to me.”

“It is quick simply the feeling of being deeply satisfied with my work.”

“It can take a few years to build up a sense of who you are when you set out in business, but when you find your feet, refine your processes and become confident that you are giving your very best..it brings about a huge sense of happiness and job satisfaction..(Is this the question I should have said my kids?)”

What do you see as the future of your Company?

“It’s funny because where I am now is always where I strived to be, so I now need to set a new vision for the years ahead.”

“Now that I’ve arrived at the place I always wanted to be and am confident about who and where I am.”

“I just want to stand up and wave ‘hello, here I am!’ So, developing my reputation within the industry has to be a big goal and of course to keep pushing myself creatively.”

“I think I’ll hang about in this happy place for a wee while longer though..just to enjoy the moment!”
