Today I am thrilled to spotlight on Applewood Weddings, a lovely Woodland Wedding Venue in Yorkshire.
In August I featured a lovely styled shoot shot to introduce you to the space, but we now go in depth to show you how to fully utilise Applewood for awesome Wedding Days.
Applewood Weddings/ The Apple of My Pie is an intimate three acres of woodland in Leeds, West Yorkshire which provides the perfect backdrop for your romantic outdoor wedding.
It has a ceremony area, seating areas, woodland walks and fire pit basin in the heart of the trees with a large open area for your wedding yurt that is reached by following the festoon light lit pathways.

I hand over to owner Nicola Warren to tell you all about this amazing place…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“We are Applewood Weddings, a brand new Woodland Wedding Venue in Leeds, West Yorkshire.”
“Unlike a blank site that you can hire and then spend months tediously organising toilets and generators for, we provide all you’d expect from a traditional venue but in the most untraditional way.”
“Couples can choose from a marquee, yurt or tepee wedding, right in amongst the trees.”
“We have created a magical space with lots of different areas to utilise and personalise to create bespoke wedding days.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“After planning and styling weddings for around 18 months and visiting tonnes of wedding venues, we realised that there wasn’t anything quite like it in West Yorkshire.”
“I had seen other similar outdoor venues host amazing events and if there had been such a venue in our area that’s something we would have loved when we got married in 2010.”
“We acquired the woodland by chance (we spotted it on Gumtree of all places!) in October 2014.”
“It was completely overgrown, full of nettles, barbed wire, broken glass and chicken sheds!”
“Fast forward just 9 months and we were hosting our first wedding!”
What inspires you?
“Anybody who can imagine something and make it happen is my sort of person.”
“I love people who think outside the box, who aren’t afraid to break the mould, in wedding planning, styling and design but also in character and integrity.”
“We hope to do this and more with all weddings at Applewood, it is truly a blank canvas and couples have access up to four days before their wedding day giving them time to really make it their own.”
“I love personalised touches, anything that pulls on the heart strings, that represent a couple and everything their marriage is about.”
“I am also a huge fan of flowers, anything floral and the bigger the better.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“Our greatest moment was undoubtedly hosting our first wedding in August 2015.”
“We had been on site for approximately three days straight, it had rained for 12 hours on the day, there was just the two of us (with a handful of very kind friends) almost complete novices to this, tired and soggy, but who had made the most amazing day happen.”
“It was definitely a ‘high 5’ moment.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“We are so brand new to this, to our business but also to the wedding industry itself that we can only see one future and that’s bigger and better.”
“We hope to be spending many years ahead hosting amazing outdoor weddings.”
Thank you so much to Nicola for sharing an insight into her wonderful woodland wedding venue.
Sometimes couples don’t have that tick box for their Big Day and want something a little more unconventional or unusual and in keeping with their free spirited nature.
To say those vows in a pretty clearing surrounded by trees, and flowers must be nature at its most romantic…
