Londons Hidden Gem – Weddings at The Taj St James Court

Today I would love to share a wee gem of a Wedding Venue, The Taj St James Court which  I uncovered whilst on my annual travels down to London.

I was incredibly lucky not only to view but also stay in one of the finest Hotels I have ever set foot in.

Incredible service, beautifully appointed bedrooms and in a fantastic location.

And when you are greeted at the door by an impeccably dressed doorman and a smile you know that you are in for a treat.

Spread across five of the eight self-contained townhouses, St James’ Court, A Taj Hotel, London is renowned for its supremely comfortable accommodation, excellent service, its Spa and its extensive meeting and event facilities.

As a whole the Taj St James Court offer  17 perfectly appointed meeting and Event Rooms with various break out areas.

However for the purpose of Weddings their are 3 distinct areas available, all accessed by one beautiful entrance.

The Edwardian Room

Transporting you back in time to Edwardian England, these elegant banqueting suites have played host to Her Majesty The Queen, Sir Winston Churchill and Lords and Ladies of the Court.

Opulently furnished with turn-of-the-century wooden panelling, beautiful chandeliers and custom-made woven carpets, they provide a regal ambience for any occasion.

From imaginative floral displays, to original entertainment, bespoke menus and table plans, events here are simply unparalleled.

Delicious cuisine crafted by their Executive Chef, coupled with the exceptional levels of service and attention to detail by their consummately professional banqueting team make these rooms stand out as one of London’s premier event locations.

The Edwardian Room 1 seats 140 for banqueting and 300 for a Drinks reception, with Edwardian Room 2 seating 40, and allowing another 50 for a reception.

Of the many distinguishing features that add up to a regal experience that the hotel provides, the most compelling is the award-winning Courtyard.

An ornate Victorian fountain plays in a quadrangle of porches and pillars that glitter with a sea-green faience glaze.

Linking the eight townhouses that surround this court is an endless frieze of figures – carved from the bricks that dance right round the quad – reputedly the longest Shakespearean sylvan frieze in the world.

It makes a perfect backdrop for any gathering or event.

The Courtyard has capacity for 200 for a reception or 70 for a Banquet.

The Terrace above the Courtyard is a secluded, hidden gem – a cosy, al fresco space for a private dinner or a more intimate gathering seating 25 – 30.

For accommodation purposes the Hotel is just stunning.

The hotel offers an option of 338 rooms and suites in Classic heritage and contemporary Executive styles across four Victorian townhouses; also, 86 luxury Suites and Residences from one to nine bedrooms in the Kings, Minsters and Falconers townhouses.

This divine city retreat is located in the heart of Westminster and is only 3 minutes walk from Buckingham Palace and St. James’ Park.

It is also public transport accessible being 10 minutes from Victoria (Gatwick Express) and Waterloo stations.

The shopping meccas of Knightsbridge and Bond Street  are within easy reach.

The hotel is also close to tourist hot-spots like the London Eye, Westminster Abbey and the Tate Modern.

All in all I could not recommend it more, whether you are in London for a lovely break or you wish to consider a beautiful central London Wedding Venue.

Thanks so much to Nina Aboagye for showing me around.
