Wedding Practicalities – Choosing a Wedding Suit

Today I am thrilled to share some advice for the boys in the Wedding Party on the important subject of choosing a Wedding Suit.

Finding your wedding suit is just as crucial as the bride finding her dress.

As much as a groom may not dream of their outfit from an early age, it certainly is an important and exciting part of your day.

So, what to look for in your suit, think of colours, styles and fabrics.

Take into consideration the time of year and venue; these help dictate your design process.

For a beach wedding a lightweight fabric or linen would be a wise choice, ideally in a light colour.

For the all year round weddings a cloth that is good for all seasons is key.

This may sound obvious but its easy to sway towards those heavy weight cloths especially when looking into tweeds for the vintage style weddings.

This year has seen a huge increase in three-piece suits for grooms instead of the traditional morning suit.

The three-piece means you have so many options and depending on the colour of cloth you go for you can go on to wear your suit for any occasion after your big day.

You have the option to wear it as a three-piece, two-piece, just the trousers and waistcoat, waistcoat with jeans, blazer and jeans….. Endless versatility.

If only Brides could do this with their dresses!

Think about accessories- pocket squares are making a huge statement at the moment and with the various ways of wearing them you can really create a statement.

Braces are always a winner! They look so dapper and can really up the ante of a suit.

Remember proportions, you don’t want to go for a double breasted peaked lapel jacket if you are of a small stature and if you are particularly tall you also want to be sure that your jacket is to a length where you do not look too short in the body.

You need to feel as good as you look.

At the end of the day you can’t go far wrong with your suit as long as it’s a Suit That Fits.
