Today I am excited to share this colourful and creative IKEA Engagement Shoot.
Ikea believes that good design combines form, function, quality and sustainability much like the qualities of a good marriage so it was the perfect setting for this cool young couple to make memories.
Photographer Nick Rutter came up with the concept of the shoot and captured some spectacular images.
Nick is a creative and Reportage Wedding & Engagement Photographer from Dorset, covering the UK, and abroad.
Nick likes to shoot naturally, using shapes, shadows, and beautiful light and tries not to shoot the obvious shots, but give clients something different.
A lot of his work is reportage, working in an unobtrusive way.
He finds it hard to define his style, but he shys away from the norm trying to create something different.
Some couples may miss how creative wedding photography can be, opting for the very traditional styled photographer, but creative photographers like Nick have a keen eye and can work with a couples personality to create something quite magical.
Nick says “I do engagement shoots because I love to spend time with my clients to develop rapport, as well as giving them something creative even before their wedding. It also gets them used to the way I shoot”
“I never shoot the same location twice for the engagement shoot so its unique to them and me and the sky’s the limit for creativity as we can literally go anywhere in the country or abroad for a unique experience.”
“Antony and Liz had seen each other over the past few months around various places in the small city of Salisbury, however they only properly introduced themselves after finding each other on a dating app. “
“As unromantic as that sounds the weeks that followed were the best weeks the couple had ever had.”
“Liz worked in PR for a few of the local night clubs and even though she finished work at 3am some days Antony would still meet her after work for a drink, or more frequently, Antony would walk Liz home and Liz would fall asleep on his lap until the wee hours of the morning!”
“The first morning Liz did her ‘falling asleep trick’ Antony walked home at 5am!“
“However, he said that he felt like Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the film ‘500 Days of Summer’, the scene where he is walking to work after spending his first night with Summer.”
With inspiration from the film (characters Summer and Tom from the film visit Ikea a few times) and Nick loving creativity and pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved, Anthony and Liz loved the idea of going to Ikea in Southampton for their engagement shoot.
There were so many unique backdrops and such beautiful colours to inspire Nicks creative buzz and together they got some amazing images.
Thank you so much to Nick for sharing this creative IKEA Engagement shoot.
Ikea is really a world of inspiration for creating a new home and these two are creating a new life together so the setting seems very fitting.
It also is a veritable feast for creative photography and the incredible images captured are so colourful, vibrant and fun.
