Today I am thrilled to share a stunning Peak District Engagement shoot with incredible landscape and dramatic skies.
Images were captured by Mark Pugh Photography.
Mark and Pamela of Mark Pugh Photography share their recollections of the day,
“It all started with a mistake.”
“Helen and Tim live in London, but wanted to get married in Derbyshire, where Helen grew up, and where the couple enjoyed walking in the Peak District.”
“All of their plans were coming together nicely, but they needed a photographer.”
“Oh, my next-door neighbour is a photographer.” Helen’s father told them. “I think his name is, er, Mark Pugh.”
“I am not Helen’s father’s next-door neighbour, and to this day, we still don’t know who his neighbour, ‘the photographer’, is.”
“So Helen Googled ‘Mark Pugh’ and our web site appeared, and the rest, as they say, is history.”
“After a very enjoyable, and not to mention hilarious, consultation meeting in London, I arranged to meet Helen and Tim in one of their favourite parts of the UK: The Peak District.”
“I set off from Nottingham with a real sense of apprehension.”
“The skies were black and it had been raining heavily since the moment I woke up that morning.”
“I needn’t have worried: By the time I drove from one side of Chesterfield to the other, the weather on the Peak was different. Completely different.”
“We met near Curbar Edge, one of the most dramatic cliff-faces in the country.”
“The wind was blowing a gale; the kind of wind that felt strong enough to blow us off the cliff if we strayed too near the edge.”
“But we didn’t mind: The sun was shining and there were fast moving, dramatic clouds in the skies overhead.”
“It was at this point I realised that being with Helen and Tim was always going to be fun.”
“I don’t think I stopped laughing whenever I was in their company; their passion for life was infectious, and they were only to happy to participate in my crazy ideas for photographs.”
“I asked Helen and Tim to stand on the edge of Curbar, and I took some of my personal favourite preWED photographs.”
“I still look at those pictures in awe of the sheer scale of the Peak District, and how insignificant we all are in comparison to it.”
“If these preWED photos were to be taste of what was to come, we were all in for an incredible wedding day.”
What amazing dark fierce skies in this energetic peak district engagement shoot.
The countryside is absolutely stunning and what better place to capture memories that in unspoilt lush green land with views that go beyond beautiful.
Also kudos to a brave couple going out on the precipice, it makes for fantastic imagery but wow, scary!
