The couple say of themselves and their gorgeous Edinburgh Honeymoon Shoot…
Tell us a wee bit about yourselves…
We are Rosemary and Heather Lopez, teachers and gardeners and best friends from California.
We are absolute homebodies – we cook plant-based and try to raise our own herbs and veggies at our little home in the country of central California.
We see our life together as a beautiful journey that we are trying to fill with all the growth and life and music and laughter and passion and magic and love that is humanly possible.
How did you meet as a Couple?
We met teaching at a school (Heather teaches primary grades and Rosemary teaches secondary science) that was quite conservative.
We were encouraged to “keep our relationship private” whenever possible.
So we quit, moved and have never looked back. We currently teach at a school where we are out and appreciated and celebrated for our contributions.
Our relationship grew as we had the same energy. We cracked each other up. We loved each other’s style and grace and nerve and flow.
We just loved being around each other. We loved each other as best friends and that love continued to blossom.
We helped each other discover our own selves and our own queerness by understanding our love as a couple.
Tell us about the Proposal…
We were thinking about it for a while. We bought simple, elegant bands on Etsy and were thinking about the “big question” and who would ask and when and where and nothing really made sense until, one day in June it just felt right.
We were swimming in the summer sun, drinking a little and smoking a little and listening to Van Morrison and we knew it was time. We just did it. We asked each other.
It was also the day of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, where 49 people were murdered while out celebrating at a queer club.
It was a terrible coincidence but a lifelong reminder to keep fighting hate with love.
Tell us a little about your Wedding…
The Wedding was little to no stress.
We bought dresses online and did our own hair and makeup. .
We were married in March 2017 at a courthouse. We wanted it to be private so we only had our two best friends present and had a lunch at our favourite Mexican restaurant afterwards celebrating with great food.
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Throw yourselves the party of your damn lives. Just you two. Make your love the star. Be comfortable. Smile and remember to laugh. And get yourself a great photographer that makes you look good!
Why did you choose this location for your Honeymoon shoot?
We had been to Scotland before and never felt any other location quite holds a candle to the magic of Edinburgh.
We knew immediately that we wanted to Honeymoon in Edinburgh so we opted to keep everything else low-key and make our trip the celebration of the beginning of our life together as a married couple!
Thanks to Marc for sharing this gorgeous Edinburgh Honeymoon shoot.
What a beautiful love story and stunning scenery capturing the spirit of Edinburgh and Scotland.
Photography can be so illuminating and emotion can just exude from a image and touch you, and these stunning pictures just speak volumes of an enduring love.
