Photographer Gillian Glover MacLean would love to invite you all to a little launch evening she is having to celebrate her fabulous new website GGMacLean.com and is very excited to celebrate with some fizz, nibbles and good music.
Gillian is a fresh new photographer based in Edinburgh with an aspiration to constantly portray the truths of beauty and love.
The launch is this Thursday, the 19th of September at Those were the Days Vintage in Edinburgh.
Gillian shares a little of her history,
“2004 was the year I bought my first professional camera and also the year my daughter came into my life. My little muse inspired me to follow my real passion.”
“I grew up in a small town north of Inverness and I believed my passion was fashion.”
“At 16 I moved to the city of Glasgow to follow my dream and after years of living and working within the fashion and design world I realised that my true zest was indeed for the images that portray it.”
“I went on to study a diploma in photography, which lead to work on fashion editorials for a lifestyle magazine and assisting an award winning wedding photographer.”
“I also thoroughly enjoy shooting a varied range of musical events, working backstage and choreographing fashion shows.”
Now it is my aspiration to endeavour to witness the truth and beauty of each and every event that I am involved in. I aim to create something that is so unique, so empowering and so full of emotion that it only leaves me one thing to say… I love my job and I hope that you will love the outcomes too!”
I have previously blogged Gillians Photography and you can see that HERE.
Gillian recently moved to Edinburgh and on her arrival there her first mission was to find where all the vintage retailers lived, and this wasn’t too tricky.
She shares her search, “Practically round the corner from my new home is one of Edinburgh’s oldest and most thriving high streets, Stockbridge.”
“Within this small community lives St Stephen Street. And what a street it is! Independent retailers galore.”
“One of my favorites is Those Were The Days Vintage. ..A vintage retailer owned by the fabulous Claire Paterson.”
“Behind a curtain at the back of the store lies an absolute treasure chest for any bride to be looking for an alternative wedding dress.”
“One of those jaw dropping situations that brings back memories of your mum saying “Don’t Touch!!”…But clearly all you want to do is touch!”
“I could literally spend hours in this shop!”
“And any bride to be should be sure to pop in and see Claire’s collection of wedding dresses, a unique array of gorgeous and well cared for original gowns from 1920′s ‘Hollywood Glamour’, to 50′s & 70′s mini A lines. Not to mention the Lace and quite stunning veils!”
“So after finding this gem, and preparing for the launch of my site, a Photoshoot was arranged to spotlight the shop and my Photography.”
“Next up on my mission was to find a make up and hair specialist.”
“Not a difficult one, they do not come much more special than the utterly gorgeous team at Miss DixieBelle.”
“Casci was the girl with the plan and did quite a blooming fantastic job! A Glasgow girl with a big heart and a lorra soul!”
“Casci was a true professional and turned our stunning model Marie-Clair in to a perfect 50′s siren. One of all our favorite eras.”
“I can hold up my hand and say that if (sorry, when!) I am ever in need of a vintage styled make-over then I’ll be skipping gleefully along to these gorgeous gals parlour!”
“Next up it was down to me…”
“Lights…(kinda)Camera…Action! I had such fun doing this shoot.”
So why not take a wee daunder down Edinburgh way this week and pop into Claires lovely shop and chat to Gillian about your Wedding photography whilst sipping on a cold glass of fizz.!
