They say of the shoot…

“The inspiration for this shoot is derived from classic story books and fairy tales. Being able to lose yourself in the fantasy of travelling to magical destinations, Narnia meets the Snow Queen, Rapunzel meets the Enchanted Forest, whilst cuddling up on the sofa keeping warm.”

“To create this vision, we focused on washes of candlelight with fire lit rooms, touches of frost and snow, accents of muted tones, warm chunky knits.”

“Winter brides can be indulgent and let their imaginations run wild in Winter. Relaxing by the fire, feasting on fabulous foods, dreaming of snow indoors, indulging all the senses and wrapping up in furs and throws”.

The stunning venue of Hallsannery in Bideford, North Devon has uninterupted views over the Devon countryside.

Think of the quintessential country house with lofty ceilings and a spiralling staircase, with sumptuous four poster bedrooms with luxurious linen and never ending views over water and parkland.

It is the perfect setting for a wedding, whatever the season.

Elizabeth Armitage Photography was totally immersed in the venue.

Growing up in a bookshop, fairy tales have always been a great love of hers.

“Hallsannery was the most perfect location. You can just feel the stories coming to life, flowing through the halls and lighting up the beautiful rooms and landscapes.”

“It is a magical time of year, when winter sets in and there is a nip in the air, filled with expectancy and anticipation.”

“The light changes colour and evenings are filled with the glow and warmth of artificial lighting. I wanted the blues of winter light to be mixed with the warmth of candle light”.

“We wanted to create elegance with a bit of a edge – and so my thoughts turned to the fierceness behind the fairytale, setting scenes that had the feeling of a story behind them was very satisfying – not to mention playing with fake snow, sparklers, and smoke bombs”.

Running with the fairytale theme, Steven and Laurent Hairdressers based in Bideford created a stunning Rapunzel inspired fishtail plait.

These talented stylists offer a friendly independent “London Boutique Style” salon that brings the latest trends alongside more traditional looks. Steven and Laurent and their team are bring many years of experience and knowledge, giving advice on what will bring out the very best in each and every client.

Their work includes tending to the needs of a celebrities and being featured in and on front covers of major magazines.

They say “The hair was set in rollers to give maximum volume, and then dry backcombed to create height, natural hair pieces were used in the plait (around 5 pieces) to add length to the hair. We wanted to give it a romantic, princess feel, with a touch of Narnia”.

“The ice blonde wig was first set, then lightly twisted and pinned into a loose bun on the side, we wanted the whole look again to be a Princess from Narnia”

“All styles were created using Bumble and Bumble Hair Products.”

The exquisite headdresses were created by Kye Tew Jewellery.

Kye creates bespoke Bridal Jewellery by incorporating and recycling vintage, antique and pre-loved items into unique, versatile and one off designs, exclusive to each customer.

Kye offers a fully bespoke service, working with brides to create that special piece for their wedding and the opportunity to even use for example …’granny’s old brooch’, to incorporate this into your piece for your Wedding Day.

“My headdresses are truly inspirational using the finest antique pieces to create ‘something old and new’.

The particular headdresses for this shoot, Rosealie and Bonnie, are both one off individual pieces which fitted the winter theme perfectly.”

“I pride myself on the individuality of my work, breathing new life into a wide array of beautiful pieces which might otherwise be lost for good”.

Makeup artist, Claire Bowring created an Ice Queen meets Fairy Princess look.

Claire specialises in bridal makeup and loves to create beautiful makeup using high end products to help you look and feel like a film star.

Calm and relaxed in her approach, but a true perfectionist, Claire will ensure you’ll never feel anything less than fabulous on your big day.

She says..“A flawless, dewy base was created using MAC and Bobbi Brown products.”

“A strong navy, smokey eye with a little silver glitter to really give that magical fairy feel. Lips were kept nude and glossy, keeping the main focus on the eyes”.

“To vamp up the look for the dusky outdoor shots, clusters of glitter were added around the eye are and a deep plum lipstick to add some glamour”.
