An Irish Wedding Blessing – Accentuating the Celtic in your Big Day

I have always loved the words of this Irish Wedding Blessing, and as we celebrate St Patrick’s Day I thought it apt, that it was shared.

The words are beautiful, and are lovely for a reading within the Wedding Ceremony, or as a toast at the Wedding Reception.

I actually used the Blessing to make  scrolls tied with ribbon for Irish Clients I had a few years ago, and they thought it was a lovely touch for their intimate Wedding celebration.

Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
The rains fall soft upon the fields.

May the light of friendship guide your paths together.
May the laughter of children grace the halls of your home.
May the joy of living for one another trip a smile from
your lips, a twinkle from your eye.

And when eternity beckons, at the end of a life heaped
high with love, May the good Lord embrace you with the
arms that have nurtured you the whole length of your
joy-filled days.

May the gracious God hold you both in the palm of His
hands.
And, today, may the Spirit of Love find a dwelling place in your hearts.
Amen.

I think this is just lovely, and coming up to this day I have been thinking a lot about it, and been looking into the meaning.

This Irish Wedding Blessing is actually an ancient prayer.

It is about Gods blessing for our journey, and his provision and care and his love for us throughout life.

Thus this makes the Irish Wedding Blessing wonderful for a Big Day as Marriage is the start of a new journey.
