Getting Groomswear right ~ Style Advice for the Modern Groom

Today I share some useful advice on getting Groomswear right with some style advice for the Modern Groom.

Over the past decade or so, the way men dress has changed drastically.

These days most men take as much care over their appearance as women do.

Therefore, it is not surprising that most grooms are prepared to spend a lot of time and money on making sure that they look fantastic on their wedding day.

Despite this fact, media focus seems to be primarily on bridalwear  but today we redress that imbalance, by focusing on Groomswear, and advice on how best to creating your Wedding Day look…

Consult your bride…

If you are a groom looking for your wedding outfit the first thing you need to do is to sit down with your bride to be or partner and discuss the look and feel of your wedding in detail.

You are looking for an outfit that will complement your bride and fit in with the theme of your special day.

Therefore, it is extremely important that you have a clear picture in your mind of what the theme is.

Some couples prefer to shop for the groom’s outfit together.

If you feel this approach is best for you, just do it. Do not be put off by what others might think. It is your wedding day, and, anyway the tradition is for the groom not to see the bride in her special outfit before the wedding day.

Shop with the rest of the wedding party

Another approach that can work is for the groom to go shopping for his suit with the male members of his wedding party. Shopping in this way helps to ensure that everyone’s outfits work well together.

It is particularly important that the best man’s suit complements the one that the groom is going to be wearing.

Usually they wear a similar style of suit, but accessorise, or finish it off, slightly differently.

For instance, the groom could wear a more elaborate waistcoat, and a different style of tie. Or, the best man’s jacket could be a different colour.

Buy something special

It is very important to put together an outfit that stands out.

The last thing you want is to end up looking like you are about to attend a business meeting in the wedding photos.

Finishing touches matter

The groom always needs to invest in good quality accessories.

These items help to turn an otherwise ordinary looking outfit into one that is truly special.

Nice touches like a pocket square, bow tie, tie pin or a beautiful watch can make a huge difference to your overall look.

Wearing these types of items will help you to add a touch of flare to your wedding day attire.

Get the fit right

Once the groom has bought everything, he needs to try it all on together. Ideally, he should have a friend, or better still a tailor, check the fit.

This needs to be done at least three weeks before the wedding to make sure that there is enough time to get any adjustments done.

If possible, he should style his hair and beard in the way he is planning to wear it on his wedding day, when he tries on his wedding clothes.

This is the best way for him to be 100% sure that he is happy with his overall look.

Ultimately, the most important aspect when choosing your groomswear is to feel comfortable enough to enjoy your special day, as well as looking stylish and suave.
