Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful Cheshire Wedding at Willington Hall with coastal blue details.

Jess says of the couples big day…

“When Catherine and Alex booked me I knew I wanted to be part of their day.”

“Not only did their wedding at Willington Hall Hotel sound amazing but Catherine is my daughters teacher. Pressure much!”

“Fast forward a year and their day arrived.”

“First I joined Catherine and her bridesmaids at her parents home, and a lovely morning of laughter before I headed over to the church to meet Alex and his best man.”

“After the wedding ceremony, we headed over to Willington Hall for the reception.”

“It was my first time there and I was super excited. The venue has so many gorgeous details and stunning grounds and I was in my element.”

“It was a gorgeous day with many special moments, but also fun with hours of entertainment provided by Giggles and Games.”

I now hand over to gorgeous Bride Catherine…

How did you meet?

“We met back in high school, we didn’t really speak properly until Year 11, age 15!”

“We were really young when we started going out, but we’ve been together ever since – so for 8 years!”

Tell us about the engagement…

“To say the engagement was a surprise is an understatement!”

“I’d just got home from work on a Wednesday night (to my parents house) and was literally just getting ready for the gym when Alex turned up!”

“He walked inside and was acting really strange – then it just happened.”

“He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! I was in total shock!”

“I had never wanted a fuss so the fact it was totally out of the blue, definitely unexpected and in true ‘Alex style’ made it 100% more special to me!”

“The ring was just perfect.”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey…

“Where do we start?!”

“We got engaged in March 2016, bought a house in the June and in the September the wedding planning began.”

“We had originally thought we’d get married in 2018, but decisions changed and we soon found our perfect venue at Willington Hall Hotel in Cheshire as well as our local church.”

“Prior to this I had managed to find my dream dress on a spur of the moment dress shopping trip with my mum – and I just wanted to wear it as soon as I could!”

“Venue was booked for 4th August 2017, the rest of the planning was now to start.”

“Both being wedding novices, we didn’t really know where to start – so I managed to drag Alex around various wedding fayre’s to get some ideas!”

“Soon, the cake was ordered, the suits had been chosen and the flowers had been picked with our amazing florist at Kado Flowers in Chester.”

“I already personally knew Jess Yarwood, our photographer as I taught her daughter, so I knew that she would do the perfect job with our photographs on the day, so without hesitation I asked her to capture our wedding.”

“The big bits out of the way, we knew we wanted to inject a bit of ‘us’ into the day, and both being big kids at heart, what better way than ordering garden games and space hoppers for the guests to enjoy! They were a hit!”

“As the day approached, invitation replies came back and final guests lists were finalised. The excitement was kicking in! Hen Do’s and Stag Do’s enjoyed (and survived) the final countdown was on!!”

“A few days before, we took care of the final details such as table decorations, disposable cameras for the tables and finalising our song request list for the DJ.”

“The reality of getting married was becoming real and we both couldn’t wait to become Mr & Mrs…”

What was the theme/colour scheme of your big day?

“I was always torn between choosing coral or mint/aqua blue as the colour scheme as I loved both colours.”

“After much deliberation, I ended up falling in love with the bridesmaids dresses in a ‘Coastal Blue’ and that was decision made – that became our colour scheme!”

“Alex and his Best Man and Ushers all wore charcoal grey suits so we tied the two together through the little details on the day! We both thought it looked perfect!”

What was the best bit of the day?

“This is a really tricky question to answer, and even 6 weeks later, we’re both still remembering parts of the day that we had forgotten about or missed because we were so busy!”

“We guess we’d have to say the ‘becoming Mr & Mrs’ part but really it was just getting to share the day with our nearest and dearest.”

“Both coming from small families, the day was really personal and intimate and it made it just perfect!”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“When people say that the day goes quickly, it really does!”

“If we had one piece of advice to give other couples, it would be to make sure to take time out, just the two of you, for a little time on your day!”

“Go for a walk, or just stand back and look around you – but definitely make sure you get to share some parts of the day when it is just you as a couple!”
