How did you meet?

“We met on 31st October 2009 in Hastings, East Sussex, where I lived and Adam was visiting his brother Steve as Adam lived in Peterborough.”

“I worked with Adams sister in law Hayley at the time and a night out had been arranged with a group of us from work.”

“After our initial meeting where we instantly clicked Adam asked Hayley for my number.”

“From our first message we spoke every day and saw each other every weekend with either Adam driving the 3 hour journey to Hastings or me getting the train to Peterborough, we did this for 3 years and then I moved to Peterborough in August 2013.”
Tell us about the Engagement?

“We initially lived with Adams parents so that we could save money to buy our own home”

“On the 22nd of November 2014 his Mum and Dad went away for the weekend and this was the weekend that Adam proposed!”

“On the Saturday morning Adam had gone downstairs to make breakfast and shouted for me to come down saying that he needed some help.”

“When I came down Adam was on one knee in his Mum and Dads dining room holding the most beautiful engagement ring, Adam proceeded to ask ‘will you marry me’ and I of course said yes followed by tears of joy!”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey

“We had quite a long engagement as we were really keen to buy and have our own house which we were able to do on 14th March 2015.”

“We happily settled into our house and turned it into our perfect home and in May 2016 we felt that we were in a position to start planning our wedding and excitedly started looking at venues.”

“We were looking for a hotel or grounds that could accommodate us getting married and hold our reception but not be too big as we wanted to keep the wedding small with only 50 people.”

“The first venue we saw wasn’t exactly what we had envisaged and we came away feeling quite low, as we looked into other venues things seemed to go from bad to worse with the venues either being over our budget or not fitting our requirements.”

“On Sunday 22nd May 2016 Adam remembered a colleague of his telling him about The Sibson Inn Hotel in Stibbington where his daughter had recently got married.”

“I immediately looked it up online and began to feel excited again as I looked through the wedding packages and photos and instantly imagined myself getting married there.”

“We rang the Hotel immediately and arranged to go for a viewing that afternoon.”

“We met with Diane the wedding coordinator and as we walked round the venue I couldn’t hide the smile from my face as it ticked every box we both had, it even had the marquee that Adam had said he would like but we had ruled out due to cost.”

“Once the wedding planning and organising started I was completely in my element and loved every minute of it, I went to wedding fairs and used both Pinterest and Instagram to gain ideas and find suppliers.”

“We had a slight hiccup with our wedding decorators and had to find another supplier 6 months before the big day but looking back now it was mean to be as Jack at Pretty Quirky was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t fault a thing.”

What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?

“Our colour scheme was neutrals (beiges, taupe’s and browns) and pastel pink and our theme was floral shabby chic.”
What was the best bit of your day?

“My favourite part of the whole day has to be walking down the aisle.”

“When the doors opened and I started walking into the room with my Dad I felt such a rush of love and was overwhelmed by everyone’s smiling faces, especially Adams, he looked so handsome at the front.”

“I could see the tears in his eyes and the biggest smile on his face.”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“We used a lot of smaller, independent suppliers as they provided much more of a personalised service and it was lovely meeting up with the same person as they invested as much in our wedding as we did.”
