Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful Hebridean Wedding on the island of Benbecula with pretty yellow and grey accents
Images were captured by Jennifer MacPhee from Clickybox Photography.
Jenny is a wedding and family photographer based on the Isle of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides.
While she definitely specialises in Hebridean Weddings she also travels the rest of the UK too.
She likes to create images that are natural, relaxed, beautiful and meaningful, that tell the perfect story of your wedding day.
She also loves working with adventurous couples and families who want to explore and create with her.
Jenny says of the couple and their day…
Seonaid and I went to school together and with being a small island community everyone knows each other – no matter no long it has been since we left school.
I really enjoyed photographing Seonaid and Gary’s wedding, and it was such a fun and relaxed day.
In the morning Seonaid had the lovely Sandra on make up and also Kat on hair… the dream team! My favourite pair to work with on a wedding morning.
Her gorgeous dress was from Eleganza Sposa, the lovely lace top from Altergirls and she wore the most amazing blue Jimmy Choo shoes!
Her bridesmaids wore dresses from Anne Priscilla and her flowers were from Flowers for all Occasions. Gary was kitted out by MacGregor & MacDuff.
The marriage was at St Mary’s RC Church in Griminish followed by the reception at St Mary’s Hall.
They also had an awesome Marquee thanks to Eilean Marquees and the hall was expertly decorated by Shona and Peter Steele.
The catering was done by the wonderful Stepping Stones and cake by Leanne Dollin – Gary’s very talented sister!
The weather was playing games with us a little, and it was a bit windy but by the time we got down to the beach it wasn’t so bad!
At the reception the couple chose to do a wedding reel – a traditional island dance performed with the best man and maid of honour as the “first dance” – it is always a big hit and good fun to watch!
Piping in the wedding reel was Seonaid’s cousin Fiona MacLennan and then getting the party going they had Beinn Lee Ceilidh Band
I hand over to beautiful Bride Seonaid…
How did you meet?
We met at my brother’s engagement party, July 2012, and it went from there…
Tell us about the Proposal…
We had booked a holiday to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca for June 2015, Gary (my husband) had already asked my dad for his blessing way back at Christmas 2014.
We went out to our favourite restaurant in Puerto Pollensa and on the way back, Gary got down on one knee along the promenade. And of course I said yes straight away!
We then made phone calls to our loved ones – think my dad was happy he didn’t have to keep it a secret anymore!!
Tell us about your wedding planning journey…
We had 2 years to plan as we got married in April 2017, so first off we booked all the main items – venue, photographer, videographer, caterer, band.
We then took our time organising the rest of the wedding and I think it all came together in the end.
Any special touches/DIY?
We got married in Benbecula, Outer Hebrides in my local church with the reception in the church hall.
Because of this, we had to decorate the hall. We hired a local couple to decorate the hall and they did an amazing job.
What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?
We didn’t really have a theme, as we were more focused on making sure our friends and family had the best time.
What was the best bit of your day?
Enjoying some drinks (fizz and beers) with our groomsmen and bridesmaids on the beach before heading back to the wedding madness. It was nice to take some time and relax for a bit.
Is there anything you would do differently?
I walked down the aisle too fast – nerves I think. My veil was very heavy so the first chance I got I took it off, I wish I had kept it on for a bit longer as I did love my veil.
During the speeches you can also see me eating my bread roll in our wedding video – I wish someone had told me not to eat and that cameras were rolling, a warning to future brides!
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Enjoy your day, don’t stress about the small things (table centres, etc) as no-one remembers them anyway.
Another tip is just to press pause, and take even 5 minutes just yourselves to take it all in.
