Nick says of the couple and their day…
“I always try to meet up with couples about 5 or 6 weeks before their wedding day to run through the timings of the day and have a look around the venue if it’s somewhere I’ve not worked before.”
“All the arrangements for their booking with me had been done via email so it was also our first chance to meet.”
“From chatting to them it soon became clear that there were going to be lots of little personal touches to their day.”
“Like wedding breakfast tables names after their favourite film and favours from the Irish distillery in Ian’s home town.2
“They also had an unconventional choice of music for the recessional, REMs ‘It’s the End of the World as We Know it’! But the key lyric being that it continues with ‘and I feel fine’!!”
“Their wedding day dawned bright and sunny, perfect for an autumn wedding and Mythe Barn is a great venue. With a dressing room for the bride and the old milking parlour converted into bedrooms there’s room for everyone.”
“The Bride & Groom have two little girls so there were also two gorgeous flower-girls to add to precedings even if they did have to go for a nap in the afternoon!!”
“Karly & Ian were really keen to have a sunset stroll and the weather gods looked down kindly on them. A fab end to a fab day.”
I now hand over t gorgeous Bride Karly…
How did you meet?
“We met online, went on a date shortly after starting to talk, and our relationship grew from there.”
Tell us about the Engagement?
“We went on a family trip to Ireland where Ian is originally from, and took a trip up to the mountains with our two girls in carriers.”
“Ian proposed next to Glenbarrow waterfall.”
“However, we had already booked the venue a month before as we had already decided that we wanted to get married that year and we found somewhere we really liked quickly.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“I previously worked as an event manager so the logistics of the day and booking suppliers was very smooth.”
“We encountered quite a few problems from Ian’s side of the family due to their expectations of what a wedding should be and we wanted a small private wedding.”
“It was really difficult to manage their expectations when they had never been to a wedding like the one we had.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The ceremony and the speeches for both of us were the best bits.”
“The ceremony was nerve wracking but really lovely.”
“The speeches were very sincere and also very funny, and the best men’s joint speech was brilliant.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Stick to your plans once you have decided who you want to invite, you won’t please everyone but it is your day and do it the way you want and don’t let anybody spoil your plans.”
