Today I am thrilled to share a beautiful Portuguese winter wedding with pretty burgundy, pastel pink, and dark blue details.
Images were captured by Rita Santana Photography.
Born and raised in Palmela, Portugal, Rita is in love with life, with love stories, and with Star Wars.
She is never happier than when turning sparks into memories trying, every day, to look at the beautiful and to live by honourable values.
She’s been into photography since a child, hidden in her aunt’s shop, in between rolls of film behind the counter.
You’ll find Rita smiling behind the camera as if it were her being photographed.
Rita says of the couples day…
Its pretty traditional in Portugal to be married in the summer and I understand that perfectly: the warmth is more inviting to party, you can enjoy the outdoor spaces, and gin slides much better in a nice shade.
But there is also a charm to a wedding off season in November, as was the case with Margarida and André’s Wedding
The weather looked promising as the day began but it ended up raining as the bride and groom exited to hugs and kisses outside the church.
This did not detract from the amazing energy and good mood of the newlyweds and guests who gathered inside the cozy Quinta Del Carmen, in the heart of Serra da Arrábida to celebrate their Big Day.
Gorgeous Bride Margarida says of the couples day..
How did you meet?
We are not sure when it was originally.
We have always been in each other’s lives, linked by the Church (catechesis, group of young people).
Tell us a little about the Proposal…
It was just the two of us, on New Year’s Eve after a beautiful Beef Wellington!
Tell us bout your wedding planning journey…
The essential thing for us was the Sacrament of marriage itself.
We always wanted a simple reception, so planning was not too difficult.
We surrounded ourselves with trusted professionals to help guide the way!
Tell us about any special touches..
We had speeches before cutting the cake, because we wanted to thank everyone for their presence.
To make them feel a part of the day more we involved our families as much as possible: cake made by the bride’s sister, the invitation made by the bride’s brother.
What was the colour scheme?
We chose beautiful bordeaux ( burgundy), pastel pink, and dark blue hues.
What was the best part of your day?
We don’t really have a favourite part. Everything was wonderful!
What advice do you have for other couples getting married?
Just do it, getting married is amazing but remember to focusing on what is important to you, not everyone else.
