Ayshea says of the couples day…
Lili and Ross married in such an idyllic location on a warm summer afternoon. They were surrounded by their loved ones from all over the world, and while many guests didn’t have English as their first language, it was clearly no barrier to having a great time!
Lots of handmade and homemade touches like the photos frame and flowers created by a family friend made it a really personal day for them all.
Lili wowed her groom by having both a white wedding dress and a Chinese dress to party the night away in.
Their day was relaxed with street style food served in a picnic style where guests could mingle and mix, informal speeches and an impromptu conga to get the evening started!
The couple say of their relaxed Suffolk Wedding day…
How did you meet?
We met online, like many people these days on eharmony.
Tell us about the Proposal…
It was Christmas day in 2015. Ross wanted to do it privately in the morning before we went to his parents’ house.
However, it was a very busy morning which gave him no chance, but to do it in front of his parents and brother.
It was a big surprise to everyone.
Tell us about your wedding planning journey …
We wanted to get married sooner but it had to be postponed as we had 2 children after we were engaged.
As most of Lili’s family are in China except Lili’s sister who lives in Russia with her husband and 2 children, the only time when everyone was available to come to the UK was July and August.
We were lucky to find Priory Hall in Hadleigh which had the Saturday 13th July available for our wedding.
It is a beautiful countryhouse on the edge of the unspoilt market town of Hadleigh hidden to the outside world.
It is ideal for Lili’s family and friends from the other side of the world to get a feel of a real English wedding.
The traditional Tudor hall, beautiful English country gardens with a lake, lawns, orchards, and lavender give us a perfect place for an informal and relaxed celebration with our guests.
Lili bought her wedding dress the same day she saw it, as it was everything she wanted at a discounted price and it was too good to miss the opportunity.
Lili sourced her traditional Chinese dress called cheongsam for the evening when she went back to China with the kids at the beginning of the year.
She also brought back some stunning hair accessories to go with her Chinese dress hand made by the local hairdresser in China.
We went for most of the suppliers recommended by Cyndy, the owner of our wedding venue, because it was important for us that they could work together assuring us a smooth day.
In fact, everyone exceeded our expectations that day, the photographer, the caterer, and the DJ.
We were really lucky to have help from a very good friend of ours Liam, whose mum is a wedding florist.
She helped us to design and made all the beautiful bridal bouquets, hair accessories, flower decorations and fairy lights. We loved it all.
Any special touches/DIY?
It was really kind of Ross’s dad to make us a personalised wooden frame to display our memory photos. The flowers from Liam’s mum were perfect in every single way.
The kind help from Lili’s maid of honour Lisa who helped us with translation at the ceremony and of the speeches. There were many touching moments…
What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?
We planned an informal and relaxed BBQ day on a lovely summer weekend hoping everyone could just enjoy themselves whilst celebrating with us.
We chose pink as it is a nice summery and cheerful colour.
What was the best bit of your day?
It was the biggest reunion from both sides of family and friends, gathering people from thousands of miles away.
We were really grateful to see many people travelling a long way to celebrate with us.
Is there anything you would do differently?
No, but we wished Ross’s brother Matt could be there (he was missed due to working abroad)
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Relax! At the end of the day, what matters the most is you are getting married with your true love in front of people who care about you and for whom you care
