A beautiful Yorkshire Micro wedding at Huddersfield Town Hall

Today I am thrilled to share the beautiful Yorkshire Micro wedding of Elaine and Ben at Huddersfield Town Hall.

Like a lot of couples last year, these two experienced a bit of a rollercoaster when it came to planning their 2020 wedding, but they got there.

Celebrations of love may be teeny tiny right now but the joy is every bit as special.

Images were captured by Maddie Farris Photography.

Maddie is a Wedding and Portrait Photographer whose approach to her photography is natural, authentic & unobtrusive, making sure to capture all those important moments unnoticeably, leaving you to make the most of your wedding day.

She is based in the North West of England but loves to travel all over the country for weddings.

Gorgeous Bride Elaine tells us all about the couple and their pretty Yorkshire Micro wedding..

How did you meet?

We met in 2011 at Manchester Terminal 1 Airport. We were both cabin crew at Monarch Airlines and had never flown with each other.

However we were constantly told by others that we HAD to meet each other as we were so similar and everyone knew we’d be best friends.

We soon bumped into each other and realised we lived within 20 minutes of each other back in West Yorkshire.

We took the leap as friends (after a few months of knowing each other) and booked a 6 week adventure trip to Thailand & Vietnam and came back as a couple.

Tell us about the Engagement…

Ben had booked a surprise trip to Nice, France where I had previously lived when I was 18 and I’d always talked about going back but we never got the chance.

Ben had me wear earphones the entire time from the airport to landing the plane and had me banned from seeing any airport screens and had held of my plane tickets the entire time.

Upon landing I recognised the square in Nice where I lived and started crying with happiness.

He had me patiently waiting until the final 4th day, took me to the picturesque village of Eze, made me climb the mountain and proposed in the Botanical Gardens overlooking the Riviera – very romantic.

How did Covid change your Wedding Plans?

We had our wedding planned at El Cortijo de los Caballos in Spain for April 2020 and we were 3 weeks away from our wedding, when Spain got put on lockdown and then the UK followed shortly after.

It was hard, and there were tears but I knew it was for the best and I’d never have forgiven myself if anyone had caught it.

We rescheduled it for this April 3rd 2021 but our wedding celebration has now been postponed to October 2022. We have a baby on the way now too so it will be very special to have a little one there.

We however decided to do the legal bit at the registry office in which was incredibly special so not all was lost…

Tell us the best bit of the day…

The best bit of the day was marrying Ben and exchanging vows!

I actually loved every part of the day and Maddie was incredible to capture everything, I loved every single one of my photos.

The day was so intimate and felt really special and we announced my pregnancy at the end of the night to the parents and brothers so was a very emotional day full of love, and a day to remember!

What advice would you give to couples getting married right now?

The best advice I can give to any couples is change can be difficult and re-arranging plans is always unsettling in some shape or form, but love will get you through anything as long as you stick together.

Be understanding of each other’s feelings and emotions and communicate.

I didn’t think my registry office wedding with 6 permitted guests would feel as special as it did and it ended up being the best day of my life to date!
