A beautifully elegant intimate Cornish elopement at Boho Cornwall

Today I am thrilled to share this beautifully elegant and intimate Cornish elopement of Lily and Alan at Boho Cornwall.

Images were captured by Enchanted Brides Photography.

Enchanted Brides are Jo and Patrick,  wedding and elopement photographers who live in Cornwall but travel all over the world capturing adventurous couples in love.

They describe their style as organic, mystical, creative and artful, perfect for intimate elopements, hand-fastenings, barefoot brides or simply for free spirits who feel their souls stirring.

I hand over to stunning Bride Lily to tell us the couples love story and about their intimate Cornish elopement…

How did you meet?

Alan and met 16 years ago after I asked him directions in a car park.

We got chatting and two hours later we decided we’d both better get back to work but remained friends and started ‘stepping out’ shortly afterwards.

Tell us about the Engagement…

We got engaged a couple of years later but we’re in no hurry to marry due to personal circumstances (elderly parents etc) although we were sure we would be together for the rest of our lives.

Tell us about your Wedding Panning journey…

Our wedding planning journey was simple. We decided to get married after I’d been very very ill after a serious operation and it brought into focus who and what was important to us.

When we decided to get married I was still very ill and so we wanted no fuss, no stress and to focus on ourselves and very close family.

We’d seen an article on Boho Cornwall, and knowing it was in a place we both love, decided it would be there.

We checked with my son and brother and their respective families that they would want and be able to attend the provisional date we had got of the 5th August at Boho.

We then looked for a villa with a pool in Cornwall that could accommodate us all my son, partner and 3 children and my brother, wife and their 2 grown up sons) and just booked Boho, the villa in St Ives in an afternoon and the Registrar and Enchanted Brides as well.

That was it, no fuss – just sorted.

My sister-in- law (who was also my best friend from school and who is a food technology teacher) volunteered to do a buffet at the villa.

I made my bouquet, button holes and head dress.

Covid was the real test as it was uncertain if it would all go ahead.

However we were notified by the Registrars where we live in Lancashire just 2 days before the cut off date for our Notice of Marriage that if we could get to the Registrars office 20 miles from where we live after the weekend, as our local office was still shut, then our wedding could go ahead.

Why did we choose an elopement?

Was wanted a wedding about us and our family who are so important to us, and we wanted it truly personal without fuss or stress.

We also wanted it in a magical setting in a place we loved, and that is exactly what we got.

Our wedding really lasted a week because it started the day when we all moved into the villa and continued until we went home on the following Saturday.

We all had a great time and it was a real family wedding the memories of which, captured so beautifully by Jo and Patrick, will last a life time.
