Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful vintage inspired Wedding at Hedingham Castle with a palette of blush pink.
The 900 year old Norman keep of Hedingham Castle stands in 160 acres of spectacularly beautiful landscaped gardens and woodland where the Lindsay family, descendants of the original owners, the De Veres, still live.
Hedingham Castle is romantic, beautiful, ancient, historic and wild, and was the perfect setting for Jade and Chris’s Big Day.
Images were captured by EPS Photography.
Simon and Hayley Brasier of EPS Photography are a husband and wife team offering an exclusive wedding and portrait service, specialising in storybook style wedding photography and bespoke family portraiture.
Simon is a Licentiate member of the Master Photographer Association (LMPA) and Hayley has achieved her Higher National Diploma (HND) in Art & Design Photography.
They take a relaxed approach to their wedding photography, which enables them to capture the true atmosphere and emotion as the wedding day unfolds.
Their photo journalistic style coupled with our gentle organisation of all those special little group shots, always gives them the images to put together fabulous wedding albums that our Bride, Groom and families enjoy and cherish for a lifetime.
They have been photographing weddings in Essex and Suffolk together for over ten years and developed an unobtrusive and creative style of wedding photography.
I nowhand over to gorgeous Bride, Jade…
How did you meet?
“Chris and I first met at college after being introduced by some friends.”
“Whilst at a New Year’s Eve party, one of my friends TOLD Chris to go and ask me out or else!”
“He managed to pluck up the courage and we’ve been together ever since (12 years now!!)”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged on 23rd April 2011.”
“We had planned a trip to London which happened to be Easter weekend.”
“Unfortunately there were rail works, meaning we had to switch to a hot, stuffy bus halfway through our journey; all the shops were shut; and to top it all off, when we were about to leave to go out on a trip to the London Eye, a thunderstorm erupted!”
“Now, being a typical girl, I didn’t want to go out and get my hair ruined so I said I wasn’t going! Chris pleaded with me and eventually I gave in.”
“When we arrived, there was a huge queue, but we just collected our tickets and were escorted past everyone else to a private pod.”
“Strangely, the guide stayed inside the pod with us and suddenly we were moving – we were the only ones in there!”
“When we got to the top, we had champagne and truffles but then Chris got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
“Although he thought this would be a private moment, people on either side of us were clapping and cheering!”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We wanted to make sure that we could afford everything that we wanted for our big day so we didn’t rush.”
“We spent just over two years collecting, organising, making and ordering bits and pieces for our vintage affair – suitcases, typewriters, china, old cameras…”
“My wedding dress was the first thing I bought and everything else went from there.”
“We decided to keep a scrap book with all our ideas in it which included cut outs from magazines, photos of venue visits and flyers from wedding fayres.”
“This was really helpful when going to see suppliers so we could let them understand the vision and theme that we wanted.”
“We got some really good deals during our hunting for things which included a 1920’s typewriter for 99p from eBay and our table plan for £15 from The Range.”
“We really enjoyed searching high and low for unique and quirky items to make our day extra special.”
“With me being a teacher I found it hard not to introduce learning into the day so the were some really interesting fact cards around our marquee with interesting info on about the wedding items e.g. the wedding rings and our venue.”
When did you get married?
“We got married at Hedingham Castle on 8th August 2013.”
What was the best bit of the day?
“There was not a single moment we didn’t enjoy!”
“If we had to pick one, it would be… just being able to share our day with all our family and closest friends.”
“It was a humbling experience to have everyone there just for us.”
“Our first dance was another real stand out moment.”
“We wanted to surprise everyone so we spent weeks practicing in the kitchen to Will and Carlton’s dance to ‘Apache’ from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air…we opened our first dance with this, before dancing to AeroSmith ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Pay what you think something is worth – if you really want it at your wedding and you think it will make a difference to your day, then have it!”
“Spend some time alone together – we took a sneaky peek at our marquee before everyone else was allowed in as we wanted to see how our vision had come together.”
“We then had some photographs around the grounds later in the evening.”
“Make sure you enjoy it! Take time to step back – it all goes so quickly. I wanted to do it all over again the next day!”
Thank you so much to Simon and Hayley for sharing their stunning imagery and to Jade and Chris for sharing their gorgeous vintage inspired Wedding Day.
I love the gorgeous soft pink palette that blends so well with the incredible florals and touches such as vinatge crockery and props to create a beautiful ambience from eras past.
Love also the really fabulous choccywoccydoodah cake that is just a step out from the traditional to something quite fun.
