Today I am thrilled to share this colourful and fun Devon Wedding at The Barn At South Milton.
Harriet and Richs wedding was a wonderful celebration of love in a beautiful coastal setting styled in vibrant hues and pretty personal detail..

He says of the couples day…
WHarriet & Rich’s wedding at The Barn At South Milton was an amazing day to be part of.
I started off in the morning with preparations with with Harriet and the girls in Salcombe, and there was a lovely fun atmosphere despite a few nerves
Harriet’s beautiful wedding dress had been made by her mum, so it was a very special moment when she helped Harriet into it and did it up, you could see how much it meant to both of them.
We left Salcombe and joined Rich at the church where he was welcoming guests.
All Saints Church in South Milton is a lovely country church and it felt just perfect for their wedding.
After the beautiful ceremony, the guests welcomed Harriet and Rich out of the church with a beautiful confetti line down to their awaiting VW camper van.
I then headed down to South Milton Sands with the couple so we could capture some beautiful portraits on the beach.
It’s a stunning location and it was quiet enough that we could capture some of the amazing views uninterrupted.
Then it was back to the reception at the Bar at South Milton, an incredible wedding venue in a gorgeous setting.
When we got to the barn there were drinks and canapes as Harriet & Rich chatted to the guests in the sun as others enjoyed some lawn games.
We then took some group photos in the field next to the barn, with the barn being our backdrop.
After some beautiful speeches and lovely food from the hog roast it was back out to catch some early evening sun.
The evening reception followed with Harriet and Rich having a beautiful first dance.
There was such a fun atmosphere as guests joined them on the dancefloor that you could tell the party was going to carry on well into the night.
I hand over to gorgeous Bride Harriet….
How did you meet?
We met on Tinder! It took a lot of persuading for me (Harriet) to meet Rich as I hated the idea of meeting via an app both our friends convinced us to download.
We went bowling on our first date then went to the pub and stayed there chatting for so long we got kicked out at closing time.
Tell us about the Engagement…
My family were on holiday camping in Porthcothan (our favourite spot in Cornwall) so Rich and I went to join them for the week.
It was sunset on the first evening and Rich took me to a gorgeous secluded spot overlooking the ocean under false pretences (I was completely clueless) and after a minute or 2 he got down on one knee…
I was saying things like ‘WHAT?!’ ‘No you’re not’ ‘Really?’ ‘Oh my goodness’ etc etc then he asked me to marry him!
I was in complete disbelief and obviously said yes straight away!
It was a beautiful moment of just the two of us in one of my favourite places on earth.
After about 20 minutes we went back to my family where we announced our engagement and popped champagne. It was amazing!
Tell us about your wedding planning journey…
We loved every second of planning the wedding.
We got engaged in August 2016 and married in October 2018 so had 14 months to plan which meant it could be fairly relaxed.
We booked the venue first (first one we saw!), shortly followed by the Church in the same village.
Everything else fell into place over the year, with amazing friends and family there to offer to help out where they can.
What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?
We didn’t have a theme really just fun! And the colour palette was all colours – we wanted it to be as bright and colourful as it could.
What was the best bit of your day?
That’s a hard question to answer but it would have to be when the vicar pronounced us husband and wife and all our friends and family cheered – you can’t beat that feeling.
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Enjoy every second of the planning process – you only get to do it once!
And regardless of how stressed you feel on the lead up, the day will be amazing and you will forget everything and just relax into it.
The wedding day will go so fast so soak up every second and make sure you spend time one on one with your new husband/wife.
