Scotlands capital buzzes with rich history and quirky character so it was the perfect setting for this Edinburgh elopement.
The couple, Carly and Andrew chose Calton Hill to marry, before taking a walk throughout the city, and with its vibrant Instagramable cobbled streets, a veritable feast of cultural and sightseeing opportunities, and of course, Edinburgh Castle it was the perfect setting for their special day.
They brought their celebration to a close at luxury boutique hotel, The Bonham Hotel.
Images of the day were captured by Martin Venherm Photographer.

Beautiful Bride Carly says of the couples Edinburgh elopement…
How did you meet?
We lived on boats docked next door to each other in San Diego (shortly after I sold my boat and moved onto Andrew’s which we lived on for 5 years together and have been on many sailing adventures since).
Tell us about the Proposal…
I was stuck in the States in lock down during which time Andrew closed on our first home and moved in alone.
The day before they shut the UK border I was able to come back to Edinburgh and when I walked in the house for the first time there was a little trail of presents around the house – one of them was a yogurt pot….with a ring inside.
Tell us about your wedding planning journey …
What planning? I was again stuck in the States because my visa had run out and returned to apply for my visa so we could get married.
We weren’t able to book anything until I got that so as soon as I got it I booked a flight back to Edinburgh and we booked everything and were married within 2 weeks,
Thankfully we found some lovely people to help us feel like rock stars!
Did Covid have any impact on your Wedding Planning?
Yes, but in a good way, we were able to have a guilt free elopement
What was the best bit of your day?
We walked about 3 miles around Edinburgh taking pictures with Martin – it was such a nice sunny day and honestly the first time we had relaxed in a while (good thing I brought some flats!).
It was so much fun walking around and getting lots of cheers – my favourite was when 2 little girls at a crosswalk were whispering to each other and then one turned around and said “I really like your dress.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Keep it super simple and small (and splash out on some luxuries for yourself).
