Today I am thrilled to share this stunning, colurful spring time Wedding held at Pollokshields Burgh Hall in my hometown of Glasgow.
Images of the day were captured by Nicky Cooney Photography.
I have previously had the please of sharing their gorgesous Maxwell Park Engagement shoot.
Nicky Cooney is based just outside the Village of Dunlop in East Ayrshire with her Husband, two little children, a Mini Schnauzer, a Cat, 10 chickens, a Guinea Pig and a Shetland
Pony called Apollo.
Her love for photography started when her Daughter was born almost 6 years ago.
Taking pictures every single day made her realise the importance of this art form. And so, the start of a new passion!
Her husband bought her a compact digital camera, a Fujifilm Finepix camera that she used for 2 years until she realised that photography was where she wanted to go.
Fast forward to 2 years ago when she started taking portraits of children, families and new born babies, soon thereafter taking the very rewarding plunge into the world of Wedding Photography.
She says “This is where my true passion lies, it is an honour to be asked to document such an important part of a couples lives and I aim to do this in the most un-intrusive and creative way possible.”
Nicky shares her recollections of the couples Big Day…
“Laurie and Tony were married at the beautiful Pollokshields Burgh Hall back in March.”
“A wonderfully stylish wedding with some stunning attention to detail.”
“I’ve been photographing their beautiful daughter Elisabeth for the last few years so I was delighted when they asked me to be their photographer.”
“It was a truly relaxed affair with the most beautiful, romantic flowers by Sophie at I Heart Flowers. Wedding cake was by the ultra cool Bakery47 who also supplied the nibbles at the reception. (My mouth watered most of the night!) and the whole affair was pulled together by Nikki and team at Be Eventful .”
“I cant recommend these suppliers highly enough, especially Aileen at Sugar8 wedding videos, who captured the day in fantastic Super 8mm film to give it an awesome vintage feel.”
“I have to admit I cried when I seen the preview!”
“I have such love for this family, and I had the most fun capturing the day and being part of the celebrations.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride Laurie…
How did you meet?
“We met at work when Tony interviewed me for my first job after graduating. I was a star employee, obviously.”
When did you get engaged?
“He proposed on a rainy Saturday in the Merchant City, whilst walking past my favourite jewellery shop, ORRO, with our little girl cheering him on.”
“It only took him nine years, two flats and one baby before he decided this ought to be made official.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“It was rather short. We got engaged one day, booked the venue the next.”
“The rest was easy – all of our favourite people from the Southside and surrounds had a hand in making it the best party ever.”
“We decided to do it on the same day as my 30th birthday, 12 weeks hence, and were lucky that everyone we wanted to involve was available.”
“It didn’t really feel like we were booking ‘wedding suppliers’ as we knew most of the people already (except Sophie, the florist, but I definitely want more of her work in my house from now on!)”
When did you get married?
“In March this year, at Pollokshields Burgh Halls.”
“We live down the street and pass it daily on our way to Maxwell Park.”
“It’s such a beautiful part of our neighbourhood and had to be where we got married, we wouldn’t have done it anywhere else.”
“We had dinner after the ceremony in Cookie, our favourite restaurant.”
“It’s closed since and I can’t tell you how glad I am that that place will be forever in our story.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The ceremony, which was much more emotional than I expected it to be.”
“The words, the music, our best friends and closest family – everything that makes us ‘us’ was there.”
“Overwhelmingly special and a little bit hilarious.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“I have no useable advice!”
“Bin your Pinterest boards and just do what you love?”
“Or, just got to Glasgow Wedding Collective and book it all.”
Thank you so much to the wonderful Nicky for allowing me to share this incredible Pollokshields Burgh Hall Wedding.
Also thanks to Laurie and Tony for allowing me to follow on their journey from their Engagement through to their fabulous and stylish Big Day.
Its especially nice to be able to share this celebration as I know most of the couples fabulous Wedding Suppliers, who collaborate together so well.
