A fantastical Lord of the Rings inspired wedding at Tewin Bury Farm

Today I am thrilled to share the fantastical Lord of the Rings inspired wedding of Elycia and Andrew at Tewin Bury Farm.

J. R. R. Tolkien’s world meant a great deal to the Bride as she grew up listening to the stories, something very special she shared with her dad.

With an outdoor ceremony followed by a Bahá’í Faith blessing, it was a spectacular wedding celebrating Elycia and Andrew’s love as well as their passion for their chosen theme.

The theme was also incorporated into their Lord of the Rings inspired engagement shoot.

Images were captured by Clare Tam-Im Photography.

Clare Tam-Im has been a Hertfordshire wedding photographer since 2010 and shoots weddings throughout the UK, and further afield.

Her style of photography is natural, creative and fun.

I hand over to Bride Elycia to share their love story…

The Proposal…

After 18 months of being together, Andrew popped the question overlooking St Mary’s Church in Hitchin by the river.

Tell us about your Wedding Planning journey…

The planning started really soon after we got engaged.

We both didn’t want to wait and we had talked about our future together before our Engagement.

In choosing our venue Tewin Bury Farm ticked all our boxes, as well as being surrounded by the most gorgeous nature and river.

We both wanted a ceremony that was intimate and meaningful, and it had to be in keeping with our awesome Lord of the Rings inspired wedding theme.

Tolkien is my literary hero, I grew up having the book read to me as a child and so there is a certain nostalgia and a very special place in my heart for The Lord of the Rings.

It’s hard to say what decoration we loved most, but it’s always amusing to see a cardboard cutout of Gandalf and Bilbo amidst our photos!

My stunning Diane Harbridge dress was chosen at Clifford Burr Bridal and once I put it on, I just thought ‘elven queen’.

To complement the elvish look I was going for,  I preferred more of the bohemian look with the accessories and chose a beautiful hair vine.

With the bridesmaids, they matched  my accessories with a golden hair leaf in their hair and rose gold bracelets that they received the morning of the wedding.

Andrew, our Dads, and the Groomsman/Best Man matched with the ‘Leaves of Lothlorien’ pin from the Lord of the Rings.

We added a little extra bit of magic to proceedings adding a few special touches like featuring the music from the film trilogy

For readings I had always wanted Corinthians (13:4) which is a popular choice for many weddings, as its just so beautiful.

Of course, we had to have at least one from LOTR and my Dad would always have been the best person to read from our favourite book of my childhood.

We also had a short poem, which was influenced by, surprisingly (note of sarcasm detected) Pinterest!

Our first dance was You Do Something to Me – Paul Weller. I listened to this song years ago, and always said to myself I’d have that one. Luckily for me, Andrew loved it too.

What was the Best Bit of your Day?

The moment I remember so fondly was just before I walked down the aisle I was incredibly nervous.

I heard the music start up, and as I walked down the aisle with my Dad I remember thinking ‘please don’t fall over’.

However I looked up and saw Andrew and all of a sudden, my worries and nerves vanished and I felt this moment of tranquility and calm.

Thats when I knew this was the best beginning of our story together.

We both loved the whole day, but for me this moment stood out.

What Advice would you give to other couples getting married?

Remember, this day is a celebration of your love together.

Your love is unique and special to you so don’t feel you have to do everything by the book, you make your own traditions.

On the day, its really important to take some time to be alone together and just to take in all that has happened, its pretty overwhelming.
