Today I am thrilled to share this glittery New Years Eve Wedding with pretty gold, cream and blue details at The Old Swan & Minster Mill in Minster Lovell in Oxfordshire.
Images were captured by Ozzy James Photography.
Ozzy is an Oxfordshire based wedding photographer who believes keeping her work natural and authentic.
Her style of photography is very photo-journalistic but she keeps in mind traditions while occasionally adding a modern twist.
I hand over to beautiful Bride Hollie to tell us all about her New Years eve wedding…
Tell us a wee bit about yourselves…
I (Hollie) am a Scientist and work for a company that is trying to find a cure for cancer.
Paul is a Director of a company (but if any one ever asks he will say that he started his career as a milking machine engineer!)
How did you meet?
I won Paul in a Raffle – True Story!
I worked with his best friend Claire at the time and she sold me tickets to her children’s school raffle.
Unbeknown to me, Paul had donated a flight in a Microlight plane as one of the prizes (He has a pilots license) which I won…Love at First Flight.
Tell us about the Proposal…
It was very low key & unexpected – Paul proposed the morning of the 25th July 2016 at Calcot Manor & Spa in the Cotswolds when I woke up in the morning.
Tell us about your wedding planning journey…
I (Hollie) am super organised so I channelled my inner ‘Monica’ from friends and off I went.
Paul was involved in all the decisions too – I wasn’t just left to get on with the finer details which was really lovely.
We really wanted to support local businesses and involved as many as possible when choosing for our day.
Any special touches?
We both have travelled frequently to Turkey from a young age so the day had to involve some little treasures from our favourite place.
We had ‘Evil Eyes’ for our wedding favours, Turkish Hamman towels as blankets for the evening and an amazing Turkish Photographer – we couldn’t have been more excited when we found Ozzy by chance.
The place settings were blue books sourced form charity shops, and my garter was made from the lace on my beloved Nan’s wedding dress.
What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?
The theme of our New Years eve wedding was All that glitters is gold with a palette of gold, cream and blue
What was the best bit of your day?
We were lucky to have our guests with us for 2 nights including NYE which made it the start of 2018 one to remember!
My bridesmaids created their own version of carpool karaoke for their section of the wedding speeches too – its still one of the best things ever!
Is there anything you would do differently?
As guests were staying 2 nights – we celebrated the night before as well – perhaps we would have a quieter first night as there were a lot of sore heads on the day of the wedding!
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Its YOUR day – Invite who you LOVE, Eat what you LOVE and don’t spend a moment worrying about what other people may or may not LOVE.
