James says of the couples Wildlife inspired Wedding day…
Jenny and Dom first met whilst working on a research field trip in the Kalahri desert!
They both work in wildlife conservation and travel the world to find rare and endangered species.
Alongside this they are both amazing animal photographers, and some of their photography wouldn’t look out of place gracing the pages of National Geographic!
The engagement story of this outdoorsy animal mad couple is similarly incredible as they got engaged in Madagascar, the home of Lemurs, baobabs, rain forests, desert, hiking and diving.
The couple chose to have a colourful wildlife inspired wedding in the Welsh mountains for their August Wedding.
The setting was Llyn Gwynant barns and campsite at the foot of Mount Snowdon made a fantastic location for the couples celebration surrounded by their family and friends.
As well as the actual ceremony and reception, Dom and Jenny were also keen on having natural photo’s of them in the stunning mountains of Snowdonia and they were up for a hike, and also a trip in a kayak after their ceremony!
When the day arrived I packed my tent and camera’s and headed out early on the road to North Wales.
The drive to the venue was stunning and I made sure to stop and get some dramatic landscape shots as I approached Llyn Gwynant.
Their wildlife inspired wedding theme was beautifully styled throughout the venue with animal print bunting, exotic colourful flowers and tables named after different bird species they have encountered on their travels.
The wedding ceremony set in the stone barn was stunning, and the colourful flowers and bunting added to the joyful atmosphere created by the couples friends and family.
Their nephew’s George and Charlie even got in on the action and almost stole the show in their job as ring bearers.
After they tied the knot everybody headed outdoors to enjoy drinks and garden games on the hillside.
Next came some time out for the couple and we had lots of fun shooting whilst they kayaked on the water, battling the wind and currents, but it was well worth it.
A fabulous Afternoon Tea reception was followed by some funny and emotional speeches.
As the sun was setting I headed out again with Jenny and Dom to capture some portraits against the stunning mountain backdrop.
