A gorgeous Chicago Wedding with traditional Hindu elements and pretty floral details

Today I am thrilled to share this gorgeous Chicago Wedding with traditional Hindu elements and pretty floral details.

Ellen and Harsha’s celebration took place on a perfect sunny day, at Promontory Point, a beautiful lake house filled with light, right by Michigan Lake, followed by a reception at the Brides moms house.

Images were captured by Alexandra Cantemir Photography.

Alexandra is an Illinois wedding photographer based in Naperville.

She photographs couples in Chicago, its suburbs, and across America’s heartland.

As a wedding and engagement photographer, she captures what makes you unique as a couple — telling a story that remains eternally yours.

She adores the little details and the striking decor, the friends and family, locations and colour palettes, but most importantly, the love that makes your wedding that much more special.+

Alexandra says of the couples stunning Chicago wedding day…

I arrived at Bride Ellen’s mom’s house early in the morning, where all the ladies were getting their hair and makeup done.

The mood was so relaxed, with all the family gathered in the kitchen sipping coffee and chatting.

I jumped right into capturing the details (per usual) and was SO excited to see the highly coveted pink Seychelles satin bow shoes!

Now a couple of words about Ellen’s dress… where do I start?!

She took a non-traditional route, and instead of a classic white gown chose a magical floral wedding dress by Jordan de Ruiter.

I was in love with this whimsical and vintage-inspired piece was completed with a multi-layer tule pink skirt and looked oh-so-gorgeous!

When the flowers by Larkspur arrived, I was absolutely stunned how everything came together – the colours and the textures and the feel…

After everyone was ready, it was time for the first look. It gets me every time – how a cool and confident man gets so nervous in anticipation of seeing his bride-to-be.

The ceremony at Promontory Point was short and sweet with some traditional Hindu elements.

The couple wrote their own vows and had their first kiss as a husband and wife which was accompanied by a big round of applause.

Ellen and Harsha then invited everyone to join them for appetizers and drinks back to Ellen’s mom’s house.

We couldn’t miss the opportunity to take some quick shots next to the lake – it was windy, and both the veil and the dress moved oh so beautifully!

Being a Chicago wedding photographer, I still can’t get enough of these views!

We were then done with the portraits, and it was time for the guys to go back and cut the cake by Eat Hardbitten.

Covered with real gold leaves and a myriad of flowers, it was such a sweet finale for this amazing day.
