Today I am thrilled to share this gorgeous intimate Edinburgh Elopement at St. Anthony’s Chapel in Holyrood Park.
Images were captured by Ash Powell Photography.
Ash Powell is Wedding photographer specialising in cinematic documentary style wedding photography.
Ash believes that photographing Weddings and love stories has become one of the most important things she will ever do.
Your images become the heirlooms that you hand down to generations, and are the thread that ties your day and moments together as our memory may not always be as reliable as time passes.
She also believes she captures your story in an honest and unique way that is true to you and represents you who really are in a conscientious and artful way.
She is based in Cornwall but captures Weddings across the UK, and worldwide.
She says of the couple and their intimate Edinburgh Elopement…
Scotland can be a myriad of things from its towering mountains, glistening lochs, dense woodlands and miles upon miles of beautiful coastline, and that can be absolutely breath taking.
I tend to photograph many of my elopements and weddings out in the wilds, and in the rugged landscapes of Scotland, but sometimes I get wonderful opportunities for other special moments such as this Edinburgh elopement at St. Anthony’s Chapel.
This spot is stunning as it overlooks the cityscapes of Edinburgh from a rocky outcrop in Holyrood Park.
The structure is in ruin with only one section of wall, and a few surviving stones but its still imposing structure helps to piece together what life was like in former times, and history always adds to an air of romance.
Karlie and Tim eloped from the US, and after getting ready, and having their first look at Prestonfield House they held their outdoor ceremony at the Chapel which included their own vows they wrote out to each other prior to the day.
Other traditions celebrated were a hand-fasting ceremony, drinking from the Quaich, the really fun jumping the broom celebration then followed by a little dance!
Afterwards we ventured into the hills of Holyrood Park before wandering into the city to mix it up a little bit.
We had fun exploring from the Royal Mile to Dean Village, and we the best time going through the streets, taking in the views.
I was so honoured to have been included in their beautiful intimate day, just the two of them.
