A gorgeous rustic Buckinghamshire Barn Wedding at Huntsmill Farm with pretty emerald green and blush pink details

Today I am thrilled to share a gorgeous rustic Buckinghamshire Barn Wedding at Huntsmill Farm with pretty emerald green and blush pink details.

The couple are Nicola and Craig who shared a meaningful, emotional  and fun celebration with family and friends last September.

Images were captured by Two-D Photography.

How did you meet?

Myself and my husband (Craig) met on tinder just over 4 years ago, and after a few weeks of talking online we met and went on our first date ice skating.

Craig being a gentlemen picked me up, but after losing his phone on holiday he had to just wing it and did end up getting a little lost on the way (my directions had nothing to do with that!).

The date obviously went well in the end though and we haven’t looked back since.

Tell us about the Proposal…

Just over a year and a half later we went on a cruise with my family, on the 11th May 2019 we were heading out for a day in Rome, just the two of us.

Craig was desperate to go to the Trevi Fountain and didn’t care about much else, we got there and it was very busy so we got someone to take some pictures for us.

We both throw a coin into the fountain with a wish (I wished we could get engaged soon).

Once we had both done this I was ready to go to the next place but Craig insisted that we got someone to take some more pictures so luckily found a nice English speaking guy to take some for us.

I was about to get the phone back as Craig got down on one knee (also on a stone apparently) with a ring box in hand, and he opened the box to reveal a beautiful engagement ring.

Craig was just looking at me with the biggest smile on his face and definitely then got stage fright as he didn’t say anything.

Most of what happened after that is a bit of a blur I remember feeling super happy and emotional, and swinging my arms around him (once he finally asked me to marry him).

We also got a massive round of applause but I don’t remember that much either!

We spent the rest of the day on cloud 9 (I spent it looking at my hand) visiting the rest of Rome, Craig was definitely less stressed after that though.

Tell us about your Wedding Planning journey…

As soon as we were engaged I started planning our dream day.

I knew we need to get the venue and photographers booked as they are of course the most important thing for a wedding day and also the busiest.

The colours we decided to go for were emerald green and blush pink and it was a rustic theme as the venue is a renovated barn.

Once everything was coming together I started making a lot of stationery myself i.e invites, table plan etc. I was furloughed from work for a few months so I have quite a bit of spare time to be able to get a lot of finishing touches made.

How did Covid impact your Wedding Day?

We had a date booked for 29th May 2021 and of course didn’t think Covid was going to effect our big day at all.

As our this date got closer and closer and Covid wasn’t going away we knew we would have to postpone our special day.

After speaking with the venue, the price would have heavily increased if we moved to 2022 so after a discussion with Craig, Two-D and our venue we managed to find a date in 2021 that worked with everyone.

We were very lucky that all of our suppliers were able to move the date which was a massive help to us and a weight off our shoulders.

What was the best bit of the day?

The Best bit of our day apart from the actually getting married bit was probably the speeches and just seeing everyone having the best time.

I am definitely a people pleaser and the fact that everyone had a great day with good food and drink makes me happy

Is there anything you would change?

Due to Covid most of my family couldn’t be there as they live in Australia and that was really upsetting. Other than that we wouldn’t change a thing!

What advice  would you give couples getting married?

One of the first things I did was a spreadsheet with a budget.

I research costs and what I wanted included in our day and then we had a budget that we tried to stick too and calculated how much we would need to put away each month to be able to afford it.

Also try and do as much yourself as you can, not only does it save money but it make it more personal when you know you had done it yourself.
