Today I am delighted to share this beautiful Yorkshire Wedding which was actually the 2nd of a Transcontinental celebration.
The couple had 2 Weddings, one in Sydney and one in Yorkshire so families on both side of the Globe could be with them on their special day.
Images of the Yorkshire Wedding were captured By Luke Holroyd Photography.
Luke Holroyd has always loved photography, and when he was a child he would run around with an old film camera and snap away.
Now as a professional photographer, he prides myself on being able to foster genuine relationships with all the lovely people his camera captures.
He says…”There is nothing more rewarding in this job than seeing the Brides smile the first time she sees her wedding images.”
“I can honestly say that nearly every wedding I capture I gain genuine friendships with the Bride & Groom!”
“I’m 23 years of age, and I have been shooting weddings since I was 18.”
“I now live back in my hometown of Morley in Leeds and work from our home office.”
“I love capturing weddings, I’ve juggled part time jobs along with assisting other wedding photographers to get to where I am now and I honestly wouldn’t change a thing!”
“Behind every good photographer there is also a very patient other half! I live with my beautiful girlfriend Joanne, who may not be any good at holding a camera but she’s a brilliant person full of lots of creative ideas.”
Luke says of the couple and their Big Day…
“Louise’s Mum Diane, contacted me to begin with, with Louise & Martin both living in Sydney Australia, Louise’s mum & dad were arranging the ‘English’ Wedding.”
“It was one of those scenarios that all wedding photographers love, when you realise that the family and couple share the same desire to capture some amazing images on the day.”
“The only difference this time was I only met Louise & Martin the week before their English Wedding date, but this really wasn’t an issue, we discussed our ideas, the plan of action for the day and everything was perfect.”
“I couldn’t have asked for a a nicer couple to capture for my last wedding of 2014!”
“As Louise & Martin officially tied the knot in sunny Sydney, their English wedding was slightly different.”
“There was no ceremony to capture, a first for me as a wedding photographer, instead we spent a couple of hours capturing some stunning imagery round the gorgeous Oakwell Hall in West Yorkshire.”
“With a VW Camper Van to hand, awesome backdrops, winter snow and some bright sunshine it couldn’t of been more perfect.. although slightly cold for us all!”
“Their day was rounded off at Cleckheaton golf club we had chance to capture some group shots of the guests before the light faded and capture the party atmosphere!”
I hand over to gorgeous Bride Louise…
How did you meet?
“We met in Thailand in June 2005, I was on holiday and Martin was travelling through on his way from Sydney to London to work.”
“We had a connection from the start but didn’t make our relationship official until February 2012!”
“We got engaged at home in Sydney on 21st December 2013.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We quickly agreed that we’d get married in Sydney with a celebration in the UK with my family and friends.”
“Martin’s father is Armenian, originally from Jerusalem, and Martin has always been keen to honour his father’s roots by being married in the Armenian Orthodox Church in Sydney.”
“It was quite an experience, one that will be remembered for a long time by many I think!”
“We then found a quaint sailing club to hire in Northern Sydney and worked with a local catering company to plan the day.”
“To add atmosphere we hired a local live band, Slide McBride, and decorated with flowers from Sydney flower market and bunting made by friends.”
“Our theme was pastel colours and we complemented decorations with stationery designed ourselves using a graphic design app called MAKR.”
“We followed through the theme of the pastel colours to our UK winter reception at Cleckheaton Golf Club, close to where I grew up, by using the same bunting and similar flowers for decoration.”
“Before the celebrations began our immediate families and the bridal party enjoyed a ride in a VW camper, another similarity from our Sydney wedding where the old family camper was dressed up as a photo booth and sweet station.”
“The UK camper drove us to the lovely Oakwell Hall where I spent so much of my childhood playing around.”
“It was so lovely to be back there and even better that there was a frost on the ground.”
When did you get married?
“Our Sydney wedding was 1st November 2014 and our Yorkshire wedding was 30th December 2014.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“On both days the best bit was walking in and seeing everyone who had come to join in the happiness and fun.”
“We had a real aisle in the church in Sydney whereas in Yorkshire people made the aisle – so lovely to walk through!”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“We had two big happy days that we will remember for all of our lives but really did need a honeymoon after all of it! Make sure you book that in!”
Thank you so much to Luke for sharing this beautiful celebration.
There is something about winter sparkle that makes everything just a little more romantic and the pastels colour scheme just pops against the snow.
Beautiful imagery from a wonderful transcontinental day.
