Today I am thrilled to share this gorgeous handmade & Vintage inspired Scarborough Wedding with hints of blush pink and navy.
The Big day was held at the Ox Pasture Hotel.
Images of the day were captured by the Colin Murdoch Studio.
The Colin Murdoch Studio are Colin and Heather, a husband and wife photography team.
Working closely together, they take photographs that tell the story of your wedding day in an unobtrusive, natural style; capturing moments as they happen, as well as creating some beautiful, natural portraits of the two of you to treasure in the years to come.
Based in Skipton, North Yorkshire they’re well placed to cover weddings throughout Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria but they’re also happy to go further afield – all you have to do is ask!
Heather tells us of the couple…
“We first met Anna at a wedding fair last year and then did an engagement shoot for her and Liam in York.”
“They booked us for their wedding not long after so we’ve had a bit of time to get to know them, and their lovely little family.”
“Anna & Liam’s friends and family put so much effort into the décor for their wedding venue at Ox Pasture Hall in Scarborough.”
“It was beautifully done (you’d never have known a professional hadn’t been in there!) and it really seemed to fit with them as a couple.”
“The day felt like it was very much about celebrating with family and friends and sharing in Anna & Liam’s happiness which is what it’s all about for us.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride, Anna…
How did you meet?
“We met the modern way.. via an online dating site!”
When did you get engaged?
“Liam proposed on 21st April 2013 – not on one knee mind.”
“You can see our Engagement shoot Blog feature here at – A York Engagement.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“From the word go when I started to organise our wedding, I didn’t want to get stressed out about everything.”
“I think I took this quite literally, and my mother had to keep me on track to get things done.”
“Once the venue was found (which I just knew was perfect), we spent many a weekends scouring car boots and charity shops for crockery and items for our afternoon tea and vintage inspired wedding.”
“It was great fun and I thank my mum immensely for all the washing and packing she undertook.”
“My mother also made 100 metres of beautiful bunting for us, which looked amazing on the day!”
“I visited 3 bridal shops and in the 3rd found an amazing tea length dress, which I knew would be perfect after some alterations here and there to make it unique and a little more special.”
“The hardest thing to source was the bridesmaids dresses. Having my sister and 2 teenage cousins to dress became hard work.”
“After months of searching, Marks & Spencers pulled through for me, and I was a little bit jealous of their dresses in the end!”
“Three amazing friends helped me out with our cake and buns, bridal party hair and the writing of the name tags.”
“If any of your friends can help or offer, grasp it with 2 hands.”
“After searching the net and attending wedding fairs, I decided flowers were very expensive and my mother and I took a trip to Country Baskets near Leeds, where we decided we would have a go at making our own bouquets, corsage’s and flower girl wand.”
“What did we have to lose? We worked hard on them and yes we did spend a good couple of evenings making everything, but I was so proud of what we had achieved.”
“Liam trusted me to the whole organising of the wedding.”
“His comment was ‘if you’re happy, I’m happy’ and to be honest, I can sometimes be a control geek.”
“I say ‘everything at our wedding was made with love’ and the overall day was relaxed, informal and simply vintage.”
“A big thank you to Heather and Colin, who captured so many special moments for us. We now have gorgeous photos to treasure forever.”
When did you get married?
“We got married on 4th May 2014 at the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel. (May the 4th be with us!)”
What was the best bit of your day?
“EVERYTHING!!”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Enjoy every moment of the day as it will be over before you know it.”
“We got married at 12.00 and the day still flew by, savour it!”
