Today I am excited to kick off the week by sharing this beautiful Lovebird theme Wedding with a Maggie Sottero Dress & DIY elements.
Carly and Liam were married at Ringwood Hall in Chesterfield.
Images of the day were captured by M.P Media.

Mark and Pamela Pugh say of the couples Ringwood Hall Wedding day….
“We have the pleasure of visiting many beautiful wedding venues throughout the year, and one of our favourites is Ringwood Hall in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, which was the scene for Carly and Liam’s special day.”
“Team MP joined Carly in the bridal suite where the finishing touches were being made to her hair and makeup and her bridesmaids hair and makeup by Jenn Edwards and Claire Elizabeth.”
“With the preparations complete, Carly took the long walk down the very grand staircase into one of the grand function rooms where Liam was waiting for her at the end of the aisle.”
“After their beautiful ceremony was complete, the couple and all of their guests took the short walk into the formal gardens at the rear of the building for drinks and canapés.”
“Team MP took advantage of a beautiful alcove to photograph Carly and Liam, and with perfect timing, a large thunderstorm rolled overhead just as everyone was called in for their meal and speeches.”
“Carly and Liam’s attention to detail and creativity were evident throughout the dining room.”
“The couple chose a lovebirds theme and Carly had hand-painted a beautiful seating plan.”
“Each table was decorated with hand-sewn birds as table numbers and birdcages were dressed with flowers.”
“There was a sweet table from Cakey Wakey which was named ‘Kai’s Tuck Shop’ in honour of Carly and Liam’s dog, Kai, who couldn’t be at the ceremony for obvious reasons.”
“We left the couple dancing the night away after their cake-cut and first dance, and we have nothing but happy, positive memories of a super day spent in the company of two very special people.”
“And, we’re pleased to report they have recently become parents featured here.”
“We thoroughly enjoyed capturing Carly and Liam’s wedding, and we would like to wish them continued happiness for the future.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride, Carly…
The Engagement
“My husband and I (it still seems a little bizarre to use ‘that’ word!) got engaged 14 months before our wedding.”
“I remember that it was a Tuesday and I had been receiving suspicious texts all day from Liam saying that he needed to retrieve something from the boot of my car and asking whether my school would let him in with no I.D.”
“Around 20 minutes before school was about to end, a rather excitable colleague knocked on my classroom door and told me that there was something I’d “just got to come and see”
“So, I left my confused sixth form students and peered out of the window to see a rather large banner asking: ‘Miss Lee… Will you marry me?'”
“It’s a good job she fetched me because the surprise could have been ruined by the influx of emails I received telling me to “Say YES!”
The Venue
“We got married at Ringwood Hall Hotel because it was important to us that we could tie the knot and party the night away in the same place as we had many guests coming from far and away.”
“Unlike other venues, Ringwood conducted the ceremony in one beautifully gilded room adorned with chandeliers and an antique fireplace and set up their coach house, complete with exposed stone archways, for us to eat and dance in!”
“The gardens and grounds are also astonishing and provided the perfect backdrop for Team MP to photograph us in.”
Wedding theme: why did you choose this style?
“I had a slight obsession with birds (when planning my wedding) and so when I saw a birdcage adorned with avalanche roses at a wedding fair, I knew the theme would have to be lovebirds, cliché but with endless scope and appeal.”
“I hand sewed birds and appliquéd numbers on the side to go with the centrepieces, instructed people to ‘Find Their Perch’ on the seating plan, cut birds out of a copy of Romeo and Juliet and we danced to Eva Cassidy’s ‘Songbird.”
Funnily enough, everybody else bought presents to remind us of our wedding day and we now have a birdcage to put candles in, two bird tea light holders and a mirror with birds adorning the frame, which, of course, we love.
The wedding dress and how you found ‘The one’
Before going dress shopping, I was adamant that I wanted something lacy that was embellished with beads.
That was until I tried the ‘wild card’ dress on; the 9th dress of the day!
“It had no lace and no beads but the sweetheart neckline and ruched chiffon bust by Maggie Sottero ‘Erin’ was beyond perfection. It is true that the dress picks you!”
What suppliers used for the wedding ?
“The first thing we did was pick our photographer! And when we met Mark Pugh at a wedding fair, we knew we’d struck gold.”
“His soft, romantic and effortless pictures were exactly what we wanted and his laid back yet professional demeanour endeared us to him.”
“The stationary was all hand made by myself. The cards were made using stamps, ribbon and a bird cutter from Hobbycraft, which seemed sensible as we knew we’d have to make many!”
“The Order of the Day booklets were painted in watercolour by myself, as was the seating plan – to me, it’s important that your wedding is as unique as you are!”
“We were incredibly lucky that a friend of the family made our beautiful cake for us as a wedding present and our flowers were arranged by another friend of the family, Ann at The Flower House.”
“The bouquets, however, were made by Cultivar, Katie Reim and shipped over from Philadelphia. Mine was 8″ and had brooches in the centre of the flowers and the bridesmaids had ‘minis.”
“Katie also made us hair flowers to match, buttonholes, corsages for our mothers and a brooch to go on my clutch bag.”
“The One Wedding videographers were a luxury we almost denied ourself, but we’re so glad we didn’t!”
“I could barely remember what Liam had said in his speech until we received our DVD from them and everybody who has watched has cried!!”
“Jo at Cakey Wakey also provided us with a Candy Pantry full of sweets and baked goods that helped keep everybody’s sugar levels up! It also took some of the stress out of trying to organise and arrange the sweetie table ourselves and it was a bargain at £165!”
Tell us about the Honeymoon
“We jetted off to New York two days after our wedding where they spent two weeks driving down the Atlantic Coast to Miami.”
Any words of advice for future brides about planning their wedding ?
“Whilst it is important to have a budget, it is also important not to deny yourself of anything that you would like.”
We thought that a photobooth was simply too expensive, however we threw caution to the wind and booked Giggle Booth, which was perhaps the best decision we could have made!”
The guests loved it and it meant that once Mark Pugh had left, they were still there to capture the not so sober shots!”
They also provided us with a guest book for people to write us messages in and we paid for keyrings so that everybody had a piece of the day to take away with them.”
Thank you so much to Mark and Pamela for sharing this beautiful Lovebird theme Wedding.
I love how the Bride has handcrafted so many gorgeous details with the handcrafted fabric lovebird table numbers and the beautiful handpainted table plan standing out.
Gorgeous cake table from Cakey Wakey and love how the family pet pooch made his presence felt though he could not attend.
A stunning celebration of love!
