Today I am thrilled to share the exquisite Edinburgh Wedding of Gordon and Fiona with stunning backdrops, gorgeous styling and a spectacular Maggie Sottero Dress at the Balmoral Hotel.
Images were captured by Marc Millar Photography.

I hand over to gorgeous Bride Fiona to share the couples story….
How did you meet?
“Our paths crossed a few times whilst we were both studying at St Andrews University but it wasn’t until I moved back to my home town of Edinburgh in 2009 that we started seeing each other.”
“Gordon asked me out at Hogmanay with the classic line: ‘I want to take you out for dinner but not as friends.’ !!”
How did you get engaged?
“One Wednesday last May I got a message from Gordon asking me to meet him at the train station with wellies and enough clothes for a couple of nights away.”
“He whisked me away up to a B&B that used to be his Grandparents’ holiday home in the Cairngorms near Dalwhinnie.”
“We had a lovely couple of days attempting to climb a Munro is a snow storm and on our 2nd night away Gordon popped the question.”
“He managed to capture the moment on camera, so we have a very funny picture of the proposal.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey ?
“We had 10 months to plan our Edinburgh Wedding day.”
“Picking the venue was probably one of the easier tasks.”
“We wanted to get married in our Church in the centre of Edinburgh, so we just had to find a reception venue close by, with good food and a bit of character.”
“The Balmoral was the perfect choice. It is an Edinburgh landmark and the reception room has fantastic views of the Castle and the Old Town.”
“The wedding coordinator Elizabeth was also so helpful; we knew we could rely on her to help make our day run seamlessly.”
“We both agreed that after the Wedding venue, the 2 most important things to get right, were the photographer and the band.”
“We were really lucky to be recommended Marc Millar Photography by Elizabeth. We loved his style of photos and he captured our day perfectly.”
“The first time we saw our band Corra was at showcase evening at the Vodoo Rooms.”
“We had already seen a few other Wedding Bands and none had wowed us. Corra however blew us away.”
“They were so slick and professional, we knew they were the band for us.”
“After the venue, band and photographer were booked it was then just a matter of working through the to-do list and it all slowly came together.”
When did you get married?
“We were married on the 22nd March 2014.”
What was the best bit of your day ?
“The day was amazing from beginning to end. I don’t know if I could pick out just one moment.”
“Definitely the most memorable was walking down the aisle and seeing Gordon for the first time and saying ‘I do’ in front of all our family and friends.”
“We also both loved our final dance of the night, the dance floor was packed for Corra’s rendition of ‘ All these things that I’ve done’.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Learn the art of delegation!”
“There is so much to do especially in the last few weeks before your big day, I found my ‘to do ‘ list kept getting longer .”
“Let your friends and family help . You don’t need to do everything!”
“On the day itself enjoy every second, it goes so quickly, make sure you have some time just the two of you.”
Thank you so much to Marc for sharing this stunning Edinburgh Wedding.
Fiona looks incredible in her amazing Maggie Sottero gown and I love the subtle pastel shades running throughout the styling as a balance to the bold blue of the Bridesmaid gowns.
Truly gorgeous florals with wee lace touches through the stationery and centrepiece and a fab Candy buffet make for a truly elegant celebration with a fun twist.
Great peronalisation with the embroidered table number too.
It is also lovely to see important people in the couples lives celebrated through a series of photographs.
