Today I am delighted to share this natural & rustic theme wedding with colour pop detailing at Broughton Hall Estate.

The Colin Murdoch Studio are Colin and Heather, a husband and wife photography team.

Working closely together, they take photographs that tell the story of your wedding day in an unobtrusive, natural style that captures moments as they happen, as well as creating beautiful, natural portraits of the two of you to treasure in the years to come.

Based in Skipton, North Yorkshire they’re well placed to cover weddings throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire and might even go further afield if you ask nicely!

Heather says of the couple and their day…

Adele and Martin initially found us at a large wedding fair in Harrogate (run by The Wedding Affair) and we met up with them again shortly afterwards for a proper chat over a cuppa.

We always find wedding fairs a bit overwhelming (for us and couples!) so it’s much nicer to meet up again in a more relaxed environment afterwards!

We were really excited about Adele and Martin’s wedding. Broughton Hall is just 10 minutes away from our house, and a beautiful venue that we’d been really keen to photograph a wedding at for a long while! (I’m pleased to say that we’ve now got another wedding there this year as well!)

Adele and Martin’s wedding day was a truly beautiful day.

Spring can bring all kinds of weather so you can never be quite sure what to expect, but the April showers most definitely stayed away. It was a warm, sunny day with not a cloud in the sky!

We started the day at Eden, a huge contemporary home on the estate, built from a 17th century barn.

Both the bride and groom were getting ready here (it’s big enough that you can stay out of eachother’s way!) so Colin joined Adele, whilst I spent the morning with Martin.

Adele wore a gorgeous Essense of Australia dress, and Martin looked incredibly dapper in a great suit with a bow tie.

After a church ceremony at All Saints, Broughton, everyone returned to Eden for a drinks reception.

It made all the difference to the drinks reception at Eden. It’s surrounded by the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and Adele and Martin’s guests were able to enjoy it to the fullest, outside!

The interior of Eden was so beautifully decorated. We love the light, white space that this venue offers, and with the florist’s brightly coloured blooms, it looked absolutely stunning.

After food and speeches, the party continued a short walk away, over at Utopia, where evening guests arrived and everyone danced the night away.

I hand over to beautiful Bride, Adele…

How did you meet?

We went to the same High School but first met as a couple after being “set up” by a mutual friend.

When did you get engaged?

We got engaged on the 6th May 2016 at Fountains Abbey (where we had been on one our first dates together).

What was the theme/colour palette f your Big Day?

We had a natural rustic wedding theme with colour pop detailing.

The planning of our day seemed to take up every bit of our spare time – but it was worth it as the day worked so well.

What was the best bit of your day?

The wedding ceremony was one of the most special moments and we were blessed with lovely weather to enjoy the day.

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

Enjoy the day – make sure you take time out just the two of you at some point to try & take it all in – the day goes so fast!

Utilise the experience of your wedding suppliers – they will provide you with a massive amount of help & advice and will work to accommodate your needs.
