A pretty Norfolk Wedding at Swanton Morley House with hints of blue & lavender

Today I am thrilled to share this pretty Norfolk Wedding at Swanton Morley House with hints of  blue & lavender.

The couple are Rebecca and Alistair and they were married in October 2016.

Images were captured by Liz Greenhalgh Photography.

The meeting

“In June 2011 myself and Ali met at a party near Newmarket.”

“I was living and studying to be a primary school teacher in Manchester and my friend’s boyfriend had invited Ali as he knew him from university.”

“A chance meeting? A complete coincidence? Who knows, but fast forward a little bit and we were well and truly smitten!”

“In order to spend more time togetther, I moved half way across the country to be closer to Ali in Cambridgeshire.”

The proposal

“In March 2015 Ali tricked me into thinking he had a business trip to Dublin.”

“As I was on  school Easter holidays I went along too.”

“Armed with his suit, laptop bag and even going so far as to do some work-related reading on the plane, I suspected nothing!”

“Imagine my surprise when Ali got down on one knee a little later and asked me to be his wife.”

“This was by far the most unexpected and most fantastic surprise I’d ever had!”

“We stayed in Dublin that night and then went to Northern Ireland where we stayed in a tiny cottage near Giant’s Causeway.”

“Eventually we flew back home where we celebrated with our friends and family.”

Planning the wedding

“As Ali’s job is a Project Manager, nothing was left to chance with the wedding!”

“We had wall charts, spreadsheets, budget trackers, you name it!”

“While Ali took control of the logistical side of things, I concentrated on the creative bits! I made a lot of things by hand and also bought lots of lanterns which we used to decorate the venue.”

“We explored the idea of having a wedding in Italy as this is one of our favourite places to holiday but we began to feel like we wanted to stay closer to home.”

“We like spending time in Norfolk as Ali’s parents have a little holiday place there so decided to go and see some venues there.”

“Crazily, we saw eight venues in one day! In the teaming rain!”

“However, it was clear as soon as we set eyes on Swanton Morley House and Gardens that it was the perfect place for us.”

“The owner Caroline Mace was calm, professional and welcoming. We knew straight away that she would do a brilliant job in helping us to organise such a special event.”

“The venue is just stunning. A perfect mixture of old beauty and modern calm.”

” We also liked the fact the venue is a blank canvas for you to personalise in whatever way you wish!”

“You can have your ceremony indoors or outdoors but due to the fact we were planning our wedding for the October we decided to opt for the ceremony room.”

“Caroline recommended various suppliers to us but there was freedom for us to choose whatever we desired.”

“We found a lovely photographer who was local to us and were equally certain we’d made a good choice by how kind, genuine and friendly Liz was.”

“When we saw her work we were completely sold on the fact she would be able to capture such a special day in the natural ‘non-posed’ way we were looking for.”

“We also had a videographer called Ben Foster. We had seen his video from our friend’s wedding and knew we wanted to capture our day in the same way!”

The Wedding

“By the time October 2016 came round we had already been to six weddings including one in Cyprus and one in Munich! We felt so lucky to have seen so many of our loved ones get married and were so excited to experience it for ourselves!”

“I think being a guest at so many weddings eased our nerves because by the time it came to walking down the aisle I didn’t even feel nervous, I just felt an overwhelming sense of excitement and love!”

“The wedding day was everything we could have wished for and more. The meticulous planning and our calm relaxed outlooks probably helped but we just felt so lucky that all of the things we had planned came together at the right time.”

“Seeing all of our friends and family smiling, in the same room at the same time was just totally mindblowing! The sun even came out for us which meant we could have drinks outside, something we didn’t know would be possible.”
