Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful relaxed intimate country wedding at Thrumpton Hall.
Images of the day were captured by Cris Lowis Photography.
Cris Lowis a full time wedding photographer in Staffordshire who captures your day with a natural and story telling style.
He says of the couple….
“I met Bekki when I shot her brothers wedding in Italy in 2013, I’d stayed in touch with the family through the wonders of Facebook and was very pleased when she contacted me to shoot her wedding.”
“It was great to see the family again and catch up on the past couple of years.”
“This was one of my favorite weddings.”
“Bekki and Brian specified they wanted a very relaxed coverage which is generally the style I’m known for so with minimal group photos and just a few posed shots I was able to really get stuck into the story telling side of photography and capture the day as it unfolded.”
“The venue is amazing. The Hall having a history that reaches back to the 16th century and sits majestically in two acres of landscaped gardens.”
“The guests were all so friendly and welcoming too and the day was a pleasure to shoot.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride Bekki…
How did you meet?
“We met in 2012 at a Corporate Charity Event… I needed someone to hold my coat, bag and glass of fizz whilst I made myself presentable following being caught in a heavy rainstorm.”
“Brian seemed the perfect person to do this, although he is still puzzled as to how he could have been mistaken for a porter!”
“Numbers were exchanged and the rest is history…”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged in New York in December 2014.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We had already planned our joint 30th and 40th birthday party at Thrumpton Hall, with our birthdays being within 5 days of one another, we wanted a memorable celebration.”
“As we had this already booked, we decided to combine it with getting married, the ultimate birthday present to one another.”
“We only told 20 or so close family and friends who we invited to celebrate during the day with us and keep the wedding a secret from the evening guests until they arrived to celebrate our birthday.”
“We were adamant that we wanted a small, informal country style wedding, so we just had to choose outfits, flowers, rings and photographer, as the venue, food and music were already booked.”
“As it was we particularly wanted to use small local suppliers, which again narrowed down the selection and made things slightly easier.”
“With it being a small affair, we found the wedding planning journey easy as there were no expectations placed on us due to keeping it a secret so we arranged everything is about 8 weeks.”
When did you get married?
“We were married on 21st February 2015 at Thrumpton Hall.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“Seeing our nearest and dearest sat around one table enjoying fantastic food and wine during our wedding breakfast.”
“The laughter is something we will never forget and was captured beautifully in our photos.”
“It was also great fun to see the expressions on the faces of our evening guests when they arrived for a birthday party to see that we had got married.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Enjoy dancing the evening away together like no one is watching.”
“Most importantly, plan the day how you both want it to be without worrying about pleasing everyone else.”
“Your guests will be thrilled to celebrate your special day with you regardless of whether they would have chosen what you have as a couple.”
Thank you so much to Cris for sharing this beautiful country wedding.
Love the beautiful pink tones and lace running through the styling perfectly complimenting Bekki’s stunning gown, and the florals are stunning.
