A rustic Californian Fall wedding with a bohemian edge and beautiful seasonal tones

Today I am thrilled to share this rustic Californian Fall wedding with a bohemian edge and beautiful seasonal tones.

Lexie and Nick chose Democrat Hots Springs, a private resort on the Kern River near Bakersfield, California to host their gorgeous celebration.

Event Designers Fairy Godmother a Wedding & Event Company say of the couples day…

When all the right elements of vintage, bohemian, and rustic come together, we call that magic.

Against the backdrop of this wedding by the river, in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, a limited number of friends and family gathered to witness these high school sweethearts tie the knot.

Featuring moody, warm, and bold colors from the greens and burnt orange, it only complemented the venue’s natural beauty, and made for a dreamlike fall wedding that one never wants to end.

Beautiful Bride Lexie  says of the couples story, and of their pretty Californian Fall wedding day…

How did you meet?

We are high school sweethearts.

We met our freshman year of high school and were really good friends, then started dating our junior year, and it wet from there.

Tell us about the proposal…

We have always talked about our future and what we want in life, as we wanted to be prepared and not rushed into things.

Nick and I had been together for 8 years by the time he asked me to marry him so I always thought that when he proposed, I would know because he is no good at keeping secrets.

In 2018, Nick and I went to Disneyland for Thanksgiving.

We had just watched a beautiful firework show and Nick turned around to me, got down on one knee, and was trying to take my picture with the Christmas tree in the background. I thought he was going to pop the question!

The look on my face was priceless! We were both laughing and crying so hard about the whole thing.

It eventually became a funny joke that we laugh about now!

In May 2019, I graduated from Cal State Bakersfield, and to celebrate, we went to San Francisco.

On the morning of June 1st, we were getting ready to go have brunch at a new restaurant we found. Nick was singing in the shower and acting pretty goofy but he is always that way so I didn’t think anything of it.

We stopped at Baker Beach, which I thought we were just killing time and walked around the old military base.

It was really overcast, cold, and windy that day and I wasn’t up for much of a scenic walk.

While walking, he asked me if I wanted to stop and make out. I don’t like PDA so I said no.

We kept walking around and eventually I told him that I was cold and ready to go! He got on the phone and was talking to someone, so I thought he was working (it was the photographer, he was late).

After pleading with him to go because I was freezing and the wind had completely flattened my hair, he said let’s take some selfies with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.

He kept taking the pictures and saying that they were “no good,” or “one more,” (this was him stalling).

When we were finally done, I said “Ok, now can we go?”

He started laughing and went into his whole speech of how much he loves me and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Jokingly, I asked, “Are you pulling a Disney trip?”

He chuckled and kept talking. He reached into his jacket pocket and I knew right then that it was happening. He asked me to spend the rest of my life with him and I said yes!

Did you have  theme for your Wedding Day?

I always loved the idea of a fall wedding so when theming it, I pictured pops of colour mixed into the warmer colours of beiges and browns.

Family-style tables with simple settings and decor were just enough to feel like it wasn’t being overdone or too fancy.

What were the best bits of the Wedding Day?

We had a swing on the property that was our backdrop for photos and that was my favourite decor!

So many people loved it and took pictures of it!

What advice would you give to couples getting married?

always remember that your husband/wife ALWAYS comes first.

And do whatever it takes to help your marriage strengthen and grow over the years.
