A serene & beautiful Cornish vow renewal in Watergate Bay

Today I am honoured to share this serene & very beautiful Cornish vow renewal in Watergate Bay.

The Bride and Groom are Naomi and Graham and they are joined by their little boy Devon.

Images were captured by Tara Statton Photography.

Tara Statton is a creative wedding and portrait photographer living amongst the rolling hills of Devon!

Her style of photography is modern, bright and beautiful, and she loves to work with gorgeous natural light and compose her images to show your day from
the best possible perspective.

She loves to specialise in creative, boho and elegant weddings in the South West including Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Tara says of the couple and their day…

“I wanted to share some photos that are not only of a beautiful day, but have such a significant and special reason behind it.”

“The 6th of June is Naomi and Graham’s wedding anniversary, and each year on this date they renew their vows.”

“Naomi has been diagnosed with terminal illness, so they do this to commemorate their love and time together.”

“Their vow renewals are very intimate and special, with only Naomi, Graham, their young son Devon, the officiant, a photographer and sometimes a videographer present.”

“They read vows to each other hand written by themselves and spend the day together as a family.”

“In 2014 I photographed their second renewal at the Deer Park Country House Hotel, and two years later Naomi asked me to photograph their fourth renewal on a beach in Newquay called Watergate Bay.”

“This year the weather was lovely for us, blue skies and sunshine.”

“Watergate Bay is a long stretch of beautiful Cornish coastline, and the beach was practically empty other than a few surfers and paragliders.”

“They chose a little spot next to the cliffs and they held their ceremony with the sea as their backdrop.”

“We then enjoyed taking photos, whilst they dipped their toes in the sea and Devon made drawings in the sand and played amongst the rocks pools.”

“This renewal was a laid back affair with bare feet, sandy toes and the breeze in your hair.”

“Since learning of her illness, Naomi set up The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, a wonderful charity that helps couples living with terminal or life limiting illnesses get married.”

Thank you so much to Naomi and Graham for sharing their celebration and such precious times with us, and thank you also to Tara for sharing such incredible imagery from this Cornish vow renewal.

I would really encourage readers to read Naomi’s remarkable story and what she has achieved, and the help she gives to those who are struggling with a terminal or life limiting diagnosis through the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation.

Despite a secondary breast cancer diagnosis meaning at times things are very difficult, this courageous woman makes it her mission to ensure other Brides and Grooms have the special day they always dreamed of.

I think I love vow renewals all the more just now as having my own later this year but life and our marriages should be celebrated much more.

Sometimes anniversaries can pass us by but each minute spent together is a precious thing and cherishing that is so important.

Cornwall is such a gorgeous location for a wedding or vow renewal. And such a touching story. The setting of the beach for the ceremony looks perfectly serene – as well as family friendly. It’s clear to see that the photographer was excellent at preserving the intimacy of the day and giving the family enough space.
