Today I am thrilled to share Wendy & Gaven’s stunning autumn wedding in the breathtaking setting of Dumfries House, Ayrshire with the bride resplendent in a Sassi Holford Wedding Dress.
Images were captured by Jill Cherry Porter Photography.
Jill Cherry Porter specialises in Fine Art Creative Wedding & Lifestyle Photography.
Originally hailing from Ayrshire, she now lives in the beautiful Fife coastal town of Dalgety Bay, which is literally just over the water from Scotland’s amazing capital, Edinburgh.
She is a hopeless romantic who loves what she does and creating beautiful photography featuring real people is such a joy for her.
She works all around Scotland & the UK as well as Destination celebrations too.
Jill shares her recollections of the couples day…
“It was an absolutely beautiful day.”
“I shot the sunny engagement shoot of this lovely pair, in Roukenglen Park, Glasgow, with their adorable dog, Amber, earlier this year and have, as ever, loved working with them from start to finish.”
“Their wedding day, although notably unable to include little Amber (who was sorely missed by all), was truly wonderful, filled with family and friends and set in the elegant Georgian country beauty of one of Ayrshire’s newest wedding venue gems, Dumfries House.”
“We were blessed with the best weather, the sun popped out for their family shots and set wonderfully in the early evening just as we went for an after-dinner stroll.”
“Internally, the house itself was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony and meal – romance poured from every corner and the whole setting felt like being lost in the depths of a modern day Downton.”
Thank you much to Jill for sharing this gorgeous autumn wedding, and her outstanding imagery.
I love to be able to follow the story of a couple through from Engagement to Wedding and see their plans come to fruition.
The classic monochrome palette is just so elegant, the floristry is incredible, and the Bride glows in Sassi Holford.
Great wee personal touches through activity bags for the little ones, and the fabulous wee tablet favours from Sixpenny Blue which I know personally are a cut above…. just WOW!

Wendy says… Jean-Paul Guerlain tells us that “Perfume is the most intense form of memory…” and Christian Dior stated “Perfume is the indispensable complement to the personality of women, the finishing touch on a dress” so with that in mind I went to Jo Malone and visited the Tasting Bar.”
“I usually wear the Vanilla and Anise cologne, however, I wanted a special scent for my wedding day.”
“The Consultant helped me to pick my way through various different scents in order for me to find one that not only complimented Vanilla and Anise, but also one that would be fitting for the theme I had created for my special day, and something that my Groom would recognise but mixed with something a little different.”
“I ended up choosing Vanilla and Anise combined with Peony and Suede Blush as my Wedding Day scent, and had various Peony and Suede Blush candles dotted around our venue burning away on the day.”
“Now I always burn the candles at home, and only ever wear the two scents combined when my husband and I go out.”
