A Stunning Autumnal Derbyshire Wedding with bohemian influence and seasonal tones

Today I am thrilled to share this stunning Autumnal Derbyshire Wedding with bohemian influence and seasonal tones.

The couple are Jessica and Matt and they celebrated their intimate Big Day with family and friends at The White Hart Inn on Moorwood Moor.

Images were captured by Fly On The Wall Photography.

The couple say of their love story and their Autumnal Derbyshire wedding…

How did you meet?

We met at a school friends party when we were 17 -18, he was well know by my friends as a hotty that went to another school! (cringe)

Tell us about the Proposal…

It was our 7 year anniversary as a couple, Matt asked where I wanted to go for a mini break and I said St Ives which is my favourite place in the world.

Matt said he had researched the area and saw that there was a very secluded beach which you had to walk through the forest for half an hour to get to (nothing out the ordinary for Matt).

Once we got to the beach he said “I know we said we wouldn’t get each other presents but I got you something.”

He knelt down to rummage in his back pack and turned around with a ring and asked me to marry him.

Obviously I said yes.

We aren’t the soppy type (hence the beach away from everyone) so there was no tears or anything, and I didn’t put the ring on until we got back to the car because I was so terrified of losing it between the massive rocks.

Tell us about your wedding planning journey…

We feel like we planned 5 weddings because of all the restrictions that kept changing!

We booked the venue in September 2019 for October 2020, and initially it started off all exciting and well planned, but in the end with all the restrictions everything kind of went out the window and we just wanted to get married with our family and best friends!

Any special touches/DIY?

The whole wedding was pretty much DIY by us! I wasn’t working through lockdown so had a lot of time on my hands!

The macrame curtain was made by my mum, some of the dried flowers were from a plant that belonged to my grandma who passed away last year which was given to me to carry on growing!

We also included thistles in the arrangements as a nod to Matt’s Scottish family

What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?

The theme was boho, dried flower arrangements very neutral autumnal vibe!

Our bridesmaids wore warm rust coloured and the groomsmens ties were in the same hue.

What was the best bit of your day?

The speeches really blew me away, one of our best men couldn’t make it to the wedding as he lives in Australia and couldn’t fly back!

The other best man got him on zoom and a cardboard cut out of him so they could do the speech together.

That set me off as it really hit me how strange the world has become this year and how crazy the wedding was.

Is there anything you would do differently?

Never!

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

Honestly the intimacy of our day (13 guests) wasn’t exactly what we had planned for our autumnal Derbyshire wedding but it was so perfect, such a small group of very important people to us who really made it special.

My advice would be stop waiting, stop fretting about the small details because in the end they really don’t matter.
