Gorgeous Bride Claire says of the couples handcrafted Warwickshire wedding day…

How did you meet?

We met online. I was trying to find someone for my friend but unexpectedly found Dave instead.

Tell us about the Proposal…

He took me to Kenilworth Castle on Sunday 29th July 2018.

On the weather report it said it was to rain all day so I told him that we can always go another day but he still wanted to go ahead with the plan.

This was in his favour as he could wear a coat and have the ring in the pocket.

We don’t mind the rain and never change plans because of the weather so I  didn’t think much of it when he insisted we went.

When we got there, to our surprise the weather was beautiful. He proposed as we had a lovely walk around the castle and ruins.

We went into the shop at the end, and the lady at the till asked us if we had a lovely day, and we told her that we actually just got engaged there.

She called her manager and he took a photo of us and proceeded to put it all over their social media.

We then had to quickly phone more people to tell them our good news before they would see it all online.

Tell us about your Wedding Planning experience…

We loved planning the wedding from start to finish and we didn’t find it stressful at all.

We both agreed that we wanted a chilled out relaxing day. We made a list of ideas and focused on one at a time, and we made most things ourselves, as we wanted our day to be unique and personalised.

Also we wanted to make the day as fun as possible, and thought about how we can make it enjoyable for both adults and children.

What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?

We both love the outdoors and music so we used that as a  basis for our theme.

Any special touches/DIY for your Wedding Day?

We had lots of handcrafted goodness for our  handcrafted Warwickshire Wedding, and we decorated the venue ourselves with help from friends and family.

Firstly we had records as place mats and tables were named after our fave Black Country bands.

I designed an aisle runner that had our special dates written on them from the date of our first date to the date of our wedding.

Our flowers were a combination of flowers that both of grandparents loved so had special meaning.

I made charms to add to my bouquet with photos of my grandparents, also making one for Dave to wear on his suit.

My father in law unfortunately passed away before our wedding so I made him a cushion that said ‘reserved for the Father of the Groom’ and made sure he still had a seat.

The wedding stationery was all made by myself and for the favours, we gave everyone a soundtrack to our wedding and some wildflower seeds as we both love our garden.

As I am a Scout leader we wanted to give a bit of a nod to that so we had a campfire with marshmallows, and also some outdoor games.

My lovely Grandad used to work on an ice cream trike, and thats how he met my Nan by selling her ice cream so that was a sentimental addition.

To bring our day to a close we had fireworks and sparklers which was magical.

What was the best bit of your day?

Everything was wonderful, I can’t fault any part of our day.

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

Say I love you everyday is so so important, and thats for at any point in your relationship, from when you first get to the point of saying it to many years of marriage.
