A Stunning Pennsylvania Barn Wedding with rustic elements, sparkles and cowboy boots

Today I am thrilled to share this stunning Pennsylvania Barn Wedding with rustic elements, sparkles and cowboy boots.

Images were captured by John Malloy Photography.

He loves photographing weddings, love, and relationships in the most beautiful and artistic way, allowing your moments to live on.

I hand over to gorgeous Bride Brittany to tell us about the couple and their wonderful Pennsylvania Barn Wedding.

How did you meet?

Travis and I went to the same high school but never really knew each other.

A few weeks before graduation, a mutual friend invited us both to go to the shore for a day trip.

We started hanging out more and ended up going to senior week together with some of our friends.

We spent the week talking and getting to know each other and at the end of the week we knew that we wanted to spend more time together.

We we spent summer spending every free moment we had together. When the fall came, we went off to two different colleges, him to Bloomsburg and me to Shippensburg.

After long talks about what we wanted to do, we decided to try long distance and ended up spending 4 years traveling back and forth on weekends to spend time with each other.

Though this time apart was difficult, we knew that we were meant to be together.

Tell us about the proposal…

December 1, 2018 – Travis planned a day trip to Philly to celebrate my birthday that was that following Monday.

Travis told me that we were going to go to the Art Museum and walk around the city for the day.

The night before he told me that we were going to meet his cousins for dinner, so I needed to wear something nice.

This stressed me out! He gave me no information about what “nice” meant.

That next morning when I saw he was dressed so nicely wearing a button-down shirt and nice khaki pants (which he never wore willingly) I began freaking out that I did not have something nice enough to wear.

I was so sassy to him that morning! (I’m still surprised that he ended up asking me to marry him that day).

After I calmed down, we ended up going to the city where he got me coffee and then headed to the museum.

Once we reached the top of the stairs, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

I don’t know what I said first, yes or I’m sorry for being a brat that morning.

Then when he got up, I realized that he coordinated with my sister and she was there, at the museums taking pictures of the whole thing.

Not only did he coordinate with my sister, but with both of our families who then met us for dinner to celebrate our engagement.

What was the inspiration behind your day?

Our inspiration was that we wanted there to be something for everyone. We wanted our Pennsylvania Barn Wedding to be special but also laid back and fun.

Stoltzfus is such a beautiful venue on its own so we didn’t want or need to add a ton of decorations.

We loved the simplicity of the decorations that we did have. We loved that we were able to have different games as well as a space for dancing throughout the night.

Something that we wanted to really shine through on our day was both of our personalities and Stoltzfus Homestead was the perfect place for this.

Travis is a country boy. He grew up riding horses, hunting, fishing, and working on local farms bailing hay.

His family enjoyed going to watch bull riding and just spending time outside. I am pretty much the total opposite. I grew up a competitive baton twirler, so I was/am all about sparkles, make up, and dressing up.

My family always took trips into the city to go to museums (especially the Art museum which is one of my very favourite places to visit in Philly).

Stoltzfus allowed us to have that barn/rustic wedding but also allowed us to have to elegant and sparkly touches.

Tell us about the Decor for your Pennsylvania Barn Wedding…

We wanted the beauty of the barns to really shine though so our decorations were truly minimal.

Megan from Pearls and Petals did an amazing job at making the space beautiful but also keeping it simple.

Something that was very important to us was having picture of our loved ones who have passes away.

We displayed these in a hutch that the venue has and it was a special way to have these loved ones with us on our special day.

Megan also did a wonderful job with our flowers in the ceremony space, reception space and the bouquets. I have always loved roses but knew that I wanted to keep the flowers to a minimum.

Our arrangements were simple with beautiful greenery but adding touches of white roses throughout.

One thing I was very excited about was my bouquet. I think that my inspiration picture was one of the first things that i found after getting engaged and Megan did a beautiful job at making sure i had it for my special day.

Our centrepieces were simple but beautiful; just greenery down the middle of our farm house tables with candles throughout.

The tables were so beautiful alone that we didn’t want to take away from that farmhouse feel.

And in our ceremony space, we had a beautiful beam piece that was above us. It was simple but also elegant and beautiful and it made for amazing pictures during our ceremony and with her party and family afterwards.

Lets talk Wedding Attire…

Its funny thinking back to picking my dress. The dress that I ended up picking was not originally a style that I every thought that I would like.

The bridal store that I went to was amazing! Bridget from Agnes Edmunds Bridal & Formals was amazing through the whole process of finding my dress, getting my alterations done and finding and altering my bridesmaids dresses.

Her and her team were so supportive and so flexible especially when finding times for my girls to come in to get fitted.

For my hair and make up, i really wanted something simple and not to over the top.

Hair Today’s group of ladies have been part of my life for a long time. They did my hair for both of my proms in high school as well as the two prom fashions shows that my school had.

They have also been cutting my hair since then. I knew that I would not want any one else to touch my hair on my wedding day but them.

I wanted a style that was simple, elegant, and timeless; and I think that they helped me capture that look perfectly.

Not only with my hair but also my makeup. I wanted a look that was pretty and soft and they again helped me capture this look perfectly.

For Travis, we knew we didn’t want him in black because we didn’t want him to look too formal. We ended up going charcoal grey for him and his groomsmen.

What was most important was our shoes because they truly showed both of our personalities. My shoes (both my ceremony heels and my reception sneakers) were all sparkles.

He wore cowboy boots. This really showed not only who we are but who we are as a couple.

Tell us about your Wedding Day…

The day started with waking up with my sister and my now sister-in-law who spent the night with me, and then we went to our beautiful venue where we got ready for the day.

I love getting my hair and makeup done and it was great because my best friends (bridesmaids) were there with me.

The whole morning was just really relaxed, even with the potential rain that we were going to have that day.

Its funny, I have always said that it was going to rain on my wedding day, even when I was a little girl, most brides would be stressed about the rain, I was surprisingly calm.

I knew that the team at Stoltzfus had dealt with rain on wedding day before and I was confident that they would be able to still make our day special.

We spent the time talking about Travis and our relationship and the wedding planning (which Travis was very involved in, which really surprised everyone).

It was not until I was standing at the barn doors with my dad, waiting for them to open and me to walk down the aisle that the butterflies started.

These were not the nervous butterflies but the excited kind of butterflies. I could not wait to marry Travis.

The ceremony was perfect. Short and to the point, which is exactly what we wanted.

We were truly lucky that we were able to have our day when and how it was originally planned.

We know that so many other couples had to reschedule due to COVID, so we were just thankful that numbers were low, and restrictions were being lifted before our wedding.

I think that this also helped us be so calm about the rain. We were just thankful that we were able to have all of our family and friends there to celebrate with us.

Though the rain did change some of our original plans, like lawn games outside and our sparkler send off, we were happy that the rain held off for the ceremony and most of our pictures!

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

We truly feel that the ceremony was something that was so special to us.

Though it was short and to the point it really captured all of the important parts of who we are as a couple and what we are looking forward to as a married couple.

What were some of your favourite parts of your wedding?

Travis and I both agree that our favourite part of the day was when they announced us as husband and wife.

Along with that, Travis really liked that he could help carry on a family tradition where all of the guys on his fathers side and his groomsmen will find a quiet place and everyone says something about the groom.

This could be a story about the groom, well wishes, advice, ect.

I think that something that I really liked was that we were able to see a lot of friends and family that we have not been able to see in a long time.

I have family that had to travel a distance that I’m not able to see very often. So having them be able to come in and celebrate our special day with us was very special.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Pick a venue that you love and are easy to work with. Stoltzfus was amazing with any questions that we had and making sure that we had everything that we needed.

They also provided us a list of recommended vendors which made the whole planning process run smoothly.
