Danielle says of the couples day…

Rachel and William’s recent micro wedding in Fife was a beauty.

They organized a beautiful and intimate day with just 20 of their closest family and friends.

This consisted of jumping on hay bales, DIY boho decor, an intimate first dance by the fairy lights, a competitive game of volleyball (which inevitably resulted in the Groom having a nosebleed!), and sparklers in the evening.

I hand over to gorgeous bride Rachael to tell us about her  and Williams beautiful Fife Micro Wedding…

How did you meet?

We met back in 2015 on the North Coast of Ireland through mutual friends.

Ok, I say “we met”, basically I saw him and thought he was rather easy on the eye!

Tell us about the Engagement…

We had talked about getting married a good few times but I never knew if or when.

We had been to a house viewing that morning that he was interested in buying himself.

We then headed for lunch and then he took me for a “drive” around Enniskillen, the town we now live in.

It had been pouring rain and I later learned that he said if the rain had stopped by a certain time that he would propose but if not then he’d leave it to another day…lucky for me the rain miraculously stopped.

We got out of the car at Enniskillen castle for a“walk” and he got down on one knee and asked me would I like to be his wife and live in the house together that we had just viewed that morning!!

Ahhhh **happy dance**, YES!!!

How did Covid change your Wedding Plans?

Multiple times, in multiple ways but ultimately we still achieved a very special day and couldn’t have been happier.

The main change was our guest numbers, we originally should’ve had 115 but had to drastically cut that to 20 of our nearest and dearest.

Thankfully for us we had already planned to have an alcohol free wedding so that didn’t hinder us.

We’re also both quite active people and wanted to have a fun and “quirky” wedding so we had already planned to have lawn games or a volley ball tournament, weather permitting.

Thankfully the weather “played ball”, and even with our 20 guests we still managed to have our volley ball game!

I have to say, and I think I could speak on behalf of William also, that even when numbers are cut and it seems like so many of your plans, even the small ones are taken from you, it’s incredible how much you can still LOVE the day.

Somehow, on the day, all the things you insisted were so important prior, become so insignificant as long as you both show up, get married and have a laugh with your best friend and your favourite people, it truly is the best day!!!

Oh, and also, we couldn’t have our videographer because our guests meant more to us and we wanted one more of them, but our photographer NAILED it and we couldn’t be happier!!

What was the Best Bit of the day?

I have to say the anticipation and build up of walking down the aisle, seeing the people you love on both sides watching one of the biggest moments of your life and then the cherry on the top, seeing your husband to be and best friend at the altar.

Nothing quite compares to that feeling, the emotions are so raw and real.

And after all, that’s what you’re here for, I think Covid 19 has helped a lot of people, including us, to re-evaluate what’s important and what your wedding day is all about…and this is it, getting married!!!

What Advice would you give to Couples getting married right now?

Ok, I know you’ll roll your eyes and think “yeah been told that a million times already”, which you probably have been, but, it’s so true…do not sweat the small stuff and try and enjoy the process of planning even with all the curveballs that have been thrown at you this year!

Somehow, your wedding comes together in the end, I don’t even really know how or why but it just does and it’s so amazing!!

ENJOY IT ALL! It’s the quickest day ever and thank goodness for photos and memories to look back on but try and take it all in, in the present moment!!
