A stunning surprise Italian elopement in beautiful Venice

Today I am thrilled to share this stunning surprise Italian elopement in beautiful Venice.

Images were captured by ManiSol Wedding.

ManiSol Wedding is a wedding photography and videography collective born from the artistic union of Selene Pozzer, photographer, and Alba Renna, videographer.

They live close to Venice, Italy, but have shot and filmed weddings all around the world.

Their style when shooting and filming a wedding is moved towards authenticity and beauty, real moments and emotions captured the way they are, together with elegant, editorial, and timeless portraits.

They say of of the couples surprise Italian elopement…

A few months before this wedding, I was contacted by Katie, who was couple Larry and Gil’s best friend, who told me their amazing story.

Larry and Gil have been together since forever – and have been through thick and thin, being a gay couple from Texas.

Several years ago, Larry proposed to Gil, but since he was pretty overweight back then, they decided to wait until he got back in shape for the wedding but then years passed.

That’s why Larry and Katie organized the perfect surprise and the most romantic wedding.

The four of them (Katie and her husband, plus Larry and Gil) travel together very often, and they had planned a trip to Venice.

Gil didn’t know anything about the wedding planning – when I showed up to the apartment they rented in Venice, he thought they were going to a party and that I was going to shoot some photos to them to celebrate the occasion, and capture some memories.

However, when they were on the water taxi going to the “party”, Larry proposed again to Gil.

He said something like: “Would you still marry me?” “of course!” “Great, let’s go!”

The excitement and emotion were just incredible!

We got dropped off the water taxi and took a gondola that led us to the ceremony venue.

The ceremony venue was a typical Venetian well in a small square, covered by pink and yellow flowers (their favorite), and there were only the planner and celebrant (Cris), plus a guitarist and singer.

As they arrived, we noticed a group of boats nearby who were celebrating a baptism, so Larry and Gil were  a little worried that they might say something with theirs being a same sex wedding).

However the people on the boats who were completely silent during the ceremony up until the couple had their first kiss as husband and husband: started singing the Italian song “Ti Amo” by Umberto Tozzi.

Needless to say, we were all crying a lot!

After the ceremony, we had a gondola ride and a couple shoot in Venice, and they had their wedding dinner at the typical restaurant of Rialto, Antica Trattoria Poste Vecie.
