A timeless winter wedding with evergreen, white, and silver details at Belle Mer Rhode Island

Today I am thrilled to share a timeless winter wedding with evergreen, white, and silver details at Belle Mer Rhode Island.

Images were captured by Ludwig Photography.

Her style is simple and relaxed shooting mostly in natural light to capture the unique details and raw emotions of the event, and her goal is to create timeless photographs for you to cherish forever.

I hand over to beautiful Bride Shannon to tell us the couples love story, and about their gorgeous day…

How did you meet?

My husband and I met online – the modern way!

Tell us about the proposal…

The proposal was very intimate in our home Christmas Eve. We had attended a party earlier in the afternoon and then were planning a quiet evening at home before family get togethers on Christmas Day.

Cocktails, Christmas carols, and a roaring fire. Very romantic.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day?

Our inspiration was classic and timeless with a minimalist aesthetic – something that when looking back many years from now, wouldn’t look too trendy.

With the wedding in December, we wanted a winter wedding theme with just evergreen, white, and touches of silver as the colour palette.

This flowed through to our attire too.

Adam and I both embraced the winter season for our wedding day looks.

I knew when we picked our date in December that I wanted long lace sleeves with a classic frame – inspired by Grace Kelly.

My husband knew immediately he wanted a velvet tuxedo jacket to add some style and personality to the classic men’s look.

Let’s talk wedding decor…

We hired Greenlion Design out of Newport, RI for the florals and design of our venue, Belle Mer.

Kim and her partner did an amazing job in realizing our winter wonderland vision with beautiful evergreens, white floral, and romantic candles.

We used an array of white florals in all elements of the design including the bouquets, centrepieces, and ceremony.

Greenlion also incorporated beautiful evergreen designs that not only added some drama to the decor but made the entire room smell like winter.

What were some of your favourite parts of your wedding?

We loved every part of our wedding, but our band – Flipside – was irreplaceable.

They were engaging and had everyone on the dance floor, especially all the kids.

My husband has two children, my step sons – age 12 and 9 at the time of the wedding – and it was wonderful to see them smiling, dancing, and having a wonderful time on the dance floor all night long

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

One of my favourite moments was our first look.

We actually had the moment on the docks at the hotel we were staying at in Newport – Forty 1 North – prior to heading to the wedding venue.

The day was just slightly chilly, but very foggy, which added some wonderful mystery to the surroundings.

I loved the intimate moment just the two of us to breath and enjoy the water before the day events of the day began. And the photos came out beautifully!

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Do you – don’t feel pressure from social media or anywhere to spend money, energy, or stress on things that don’t bring a smile to your face.
