I spoke to Keiran of Mylo Photography about his Business and the happy couple…..

“As Mylo Photography, my wife Joanne and I aim to deliver a complete wedding photography package to our clients.”

“We enjoy meeting and getting to know our couples and also hope to keep in touch throughout the planning process.”

“Having recently married ourselves, we know first hand the amount of planning and preparation that goes into a wedding and so do our very best to ensure that our coverage is seamless and really captures the essence of the wedding day from start to finish.”

“We offer a very simple package and work with our couples in order to provide them with the coverage, type and style of photography they require at a price that won’t break the budget.”

“The end product is a collection of  beautiful, timeless photographs that immediately bring back all of the happiest memories from their wedding day.”

“Dena and Will came to meet us at our home to discuss their plans for their wedding and what they hoped to achieve from their photography.”

“I was really pleased because they both had lots of ideas as to the kind of photography they wanted, and I really appreciated Dena’s input in sharing the types of photographs she wanted – this really helps us to deliver a really great set of photos to our couples.”

“I was also looking forward to being able to take some beautiful shots of Dena and Will at their gorgeous venue.”

“It was a really great wedding, beautifully thought out and planned with lots of lovely details to photograph.”

“I loved meeting Dena and Will’s friends and family and was able to take some really great photographs as everyone was so helpful and cooperative.”

“The weather was great and enabled us to take some beautiful shots in the grounds of Norwood Park.”

“It was a lovely, festive occasion – a great celebration of a lovely couple.”

I also spoke to beautiful Bride Dena about her and Will’s special day….

How did you meet?

“Will and I met through our mutual friend, Sarah during a night out in Manchester’s Northern Quarter in 2010.”

“We instantly hit it off and as the night panned out we realised we had almost been living parallel lives!”

“I had lived and worked in Brisbane in 2008 and we scarily realised that so did Will, the strange thing was that the apartments he lived in were on the same road as my office block!”

“Other coincidences unfolded such as out of the whole of Greater Manchester, Will was now working for the same company and in the same building that I had previously worked in before going travelling!”

“It seemed that our paths were almost destined to cross!”

When did you get engaged?

“We got engaged in August 2012 in beautiful Lyme Regis!”

“We had decided to go on a little Summer road trip and stopped off for a night in Bath before arriving at the stunning Jurassic coastline for the weekend.”

“It had been a rainy and miserable August but this one particular day temperatures soared to 28 degrees and we spent hours basking in the sun and taking in the stunning views with a few too many glasses of wine.”

“Unbeknown to me, Will had booked a meal at a Tapas restaurant so we headed out that evening for more food and drink.”

“After the meal we took a slightly dangerous stroll in the dark along the famous Cobb which sticks out into the sea and it was then that Will got down on one knee and proposed!”

“My ring was a marquise cut diamond and very different, I loved it and it was all so perfect! We carried on the celebrations with lots of champagne!”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey

“We had debated getting married in Sorrento in Italy’s Campania Region as my mum’s family were originally from the area and we had holidayed there earlier in 2012 but we soon realised that having all of our elderly family there meant so much to us that we decided to stick with ‘tradition’ and find a venue near my hometown in Nottinghamshire.”

“I had been a bridesmaid in August 2012 at one of my closest friend’s weddings at Norwood Park in Southwell and we had been so impressed with its charm and setting and it was close by to my parent’s village so it seemed the perfect choice.”

“I had been a little worried about our wedding being at a friend’s chosen venue but we always knew we wanted a winter wedding.”

“The team at Norwood told us that the reception building had now been enclosed with a marquee so it would look like a completely different place especially with the Christmas tree, decorations and the roaring open fires.”

“We had originally planned to avoid any Christmas festive theme as the wedding was booked for the end of November but as time went on we thought that our celebrations would be the perfect excuse to give our a guests their first mulled wine of the season and to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.”

“The enormous Christmas tree in the main hallway also provided such a beautiful backdrop to so many of our pictures!

“Being from a big foodie loving Italian family the choice of food was always going to be an important factor to us but we were thrilled with the menu that Norwood offered and the wedding breakfast on the day exceeded all of our expectations!”

“We also decided to have Italian themed favours so we had personalised bottles of limoncello for use as place settings.”

“We always wanted our wedding to be a little different so we based many ideas on vintage elements from over the decades, taking inspiration from both the 1930’s and the 1970’s to create a whimsical winter wonderland that would be informal and relaxed.”

“I think our end result was Downton Abbey with a twist of the 1970’s Mod era!”

“We collected lots of beautiful antique cut glass crystal dishes from family members and charity shops for our table centrepieces and one of my Aunties kindly recreated my bouquet flowers for each table decoration.”

“It was lovely to have such a personal touch to the décor!”

“Our photographs were always going to be one of the main treasured parts of the big day and our brilliant photographer Kieran from Mylo photography was recommended to us by a friend.”

“We met Kieran to discuss our ideas and I spent weeks emailing him photographs from wedding blogs that I loved.”

“We wanted a slightly vintage look to the shots and he used a variety of filters to create what we were looking for.”

“After the venue one of the first things we bought was Will’s suit!”

“Adamant that he wouldn’t be wearing traditional tails on the day we sourced a 1970’s Mod’s style Skinny fit, Ben Sherman suit from Atomretro which he wore with a spotty dicky bow to differentiate him from the rest of the groom party.”

“My beautiful dress was a bespoke made Raimon Bundo Novia’s gown with a low scooped back and a floaty bell shaped sleeve.”

“I had originally planned on wearing my mum’s wedding dress from 1979 as I had always loved her wedding pictures and I was a little upset when we discovered the lining had worn away beyond repair!

“I decided I wanted to try and recreate elements of her dress such as the gorgeous mix of both tuelle and lace and keeping the whimsical boho floaty sleeves.”

“After months of Pinterest searching and major head in the sand dress anxiety I met the fabulous Emma from Love Bridal Boutique and we managed to customise an existing dress! It was always going to be a big gamble but it all paid off!”

“My 4 lovely bridesmaids wore beautiful black dresses designed by Delphine Manivet with cut out backs to match the style of my dress.”

“We decided that as we had evening reception guests travelling to Norwood from across the UK that we would start the evening reception earlier than planned to make it more of an occasion.”

“For an extra special surprise we hired my school friend turned professional Magician, Mathew Knight to provide some amazingly breath-taking entertainment.”

“It proved to be a great idea and everyone still hasn’t stopped commenting on his tricks yet!”

When did you get married?

“We got married on Friday 29th November, 2013.”

What was the best bit of your day?

“The entire day from start to finish was literally the best day of our lives!”

“I think we just floated along throughout all of it without a care in the world!”

“Dancing our first dance to The Smith’s ‘There is a light that never goes out’ was one of the highlights!”

“We both have said we particularly loved the time to ourselves at the end of the night as we shared a final bottle of wedding fizz at 2am, whilst taking in the whole day and reflecting on how overwhelming it felt to be with all our favourite people!”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“Go with your first instincts on most things during the planning phase as it is so easy to start over complicating things and worrying about stuff like wedding lipstick colours!”

“I became obsessed with Pinterest so I would suggest any bride or groom to be should set up a wedding ideas board – it really helped me to get a ‘theme’ together and research bouquets and cakes!”

“Also, another piece of advice to any bride that is debating whether to wear a veil or not – definitely do it!”

“I was hesitant as I had my gorgeous Flo and Percy forehead band and wasn’t sure I needed a veil but in the end I gave in and ‘my something borrowed’ was my friend’s veil! I am so glad I wore one as it made me feel so much more special!”

Thank you so much to Mylo Photography for sharing their incredible photography, and this stunning Nottinghamshire Wedding.

I love the striking reds of the florals and the warmth of the season that the images covey.

Dena’s 70’s inspired gown with gorgeous bell sleeves brings vintage chic in a modern twist and the Flo and Percy browband compliments so well.

Will cuts a sharp figure in his Ben Sherman suit, and the dickie bow just adds extra cool.

And the Limoncello favours are just a wonderful way to celebrate heritage.
