Today I am thrilled to share this stunning Winter Wedding at Lochgreen House with hints of cream and blush.
Ewan and Katy were married just after Christmas at the beautiful venue on the Ayrshire Coast.
On the outskirts of Troon, Lochgreen House Hotel is wonderfully situated in the heart of quiet, secluded Ayrshire countryside amid 30 acres of woodland and gardens, with views of the sea.
Images of the day were captured by Paul Walker Images.
Paul Walker Images is a husband and wife photography duo, Paul & Kathryn based in Alloway, Ayrshire.
For over a decade they have been known for their naturally creative style and their honest and heartfelt approach to photographing weddings.
They say of their work…”Our aim is simple, to delight our customers with a quality and friendly experience from start to finish.”
“For us it’s a privilege to capture the unfolding of precious wedding day moments that only happen once.”
“The bride and groom has been let down by a photographer going out of business and had asked for recommendations.”
“Our name was put forward by a few different sources and when Katy and Ewan visited us it felt a great match.”
“They were blessed with great weather, especially for December, and you really couldn’t meet a nicer couple.”
“When the families and bride and groom are all working with you and the guests are all supportive it makes this job the best in the world.”
I hand over to the couple…
How did you meet?
“It sounds a bit cheesy but Ewan and I met in Arnold Clark when he worked there (he’s now back with his family business selling fish) when he sold my mum a car and I knew there and then I would marry him…so cringey but true.”
Tell us about the Engagement…
“We got engaged exactly 2 years to the day of our first date.”
“Ewan planned a weekend away to Tigerlily in Edinburgh and had got his friend to go and put rose petals, champagne and the ring in the room for us arriving.”
“He had left me a card to open when we got there which was full of lovely wording and then asked me to marry him, it was the best surprise there was lots of tears (happy tears) and lots of champagne.”
Tell us about your planning journey…
“To be honest I’m the least organised person ever, so the planning of the wedding wasn’t my favourite.”
“My mum was amazing all the way through, even after being diagnosed with breast cancer a year before she totally put the wedding first and powered through all her treatment.”
“She is an inspiration and both Ewan and I can’t thank her enough for everything she done for us in the lead up to the big day (also my dad for helping pay for it).”
“The bit I enjoyed most was picking my dress, which I got in a bridal boutique in Marbella, and luckily went back to collect it and have my hen doo all rolled into one.”
When did you get married?
“We got married on the 28th December 2014, which was also Ewan’s 30th birthday so it was a double celebration.”
“It was lovely having it between Christmas and new year and having all of our family and friends there together to celebrate, we had the most perfect frosty day and our photos were amazing.”
“The whole day from start to finish was absolutely brilliant, Karin and all the staff at the loch green were amazing, everything was perfect and they had all the fine details down to a tee!”
“We both were so happy and couldn’t stop smiling, it was definitely the best day of our lives to date.”
What advice would you give to other Brides and Grooms?
“I would advise anyone getting married to just absolutely enjoy your day, it goes past so quickly.”
“It is the best day ever and everyone is buzzing for you. Also I would say you should have things exactly as you want them on the day, it’s your day!”
“I would like to thank our wedding co-ordinator Karin for being so patient and willing to help at all times, nothing was ever a bother to her, she is such a credit to Lochgreen House hotel.”
“Also to our photographers Paul and Kathryn and videographers Mike and Jason for capturing the most amazing photos and video footage of our special day.”
“Last but not least my Aunty Frances who wrote our place names and invites in calligraphy which looked so elegant and got so many compliments.”
I would also like to share highlights from the couples wedding DVD from RPL Weddings….
Thank you so much to Paul for sharing this beautiful winter wedding and his stunning imagery, and to the couple for sharing their elegant celebration.
